Edgeworth Park at New Town: Senior Living in Historic Williamsburg
Residents and their families rave about the charming residences, the resort-style amenities and the exceptional care they receive at Edgeworth Park at New Town. They’re not the only ones — The Virginia Gazette has named Edgeworth Park at New Town the best assisted living community in Williamsburg every year since it opened in 2017. Take a tour and it’s not hard to see why. Seniors enjoy restaurant-style dining, a fully-equipped fitness center, eight sunrooms, a full-service salon, a 24-hour bistro and three acres of beautifully wooded grounds. They engage with a lively events calendar, which features crafting activities, happy hours, special interest clubs and movie nights in the theater.
With all these amenities, it’s almost enough to make seniors never want to leave. Almost, but not when you’re in Williamsburg, one of America’s most beautiful and historically significant towns. Residents explore all the gorgeously restored buildings of Colonial Williamsburg, admire the works at the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and see instruments of the colonial period at the Virginia Musical Museum. Within walking distance in the planned community of New Town, seniors find over a dozen restaurants, open-air Main Street shopping and a brand-new movie theatre.

Beware… I’m finding This facility has many issues. Management does nothing. They ask for names and my video to help with their training program. They need to do their own ghost observations to improve their work force. --From overcharges to half month charges of never occupying and had the nerve to charge LTC Co too!!!!! -missed meds, running out of meds --Bring in dinner meals in styrofoam containers and that mom never ordered and then they take them back. meals charges delivered but taken away so they eat the meal you pay twice for. -Severally Under staffed very often. Handling mom rough when putting her to bed at times. Workers intimidate the residence so they are scared to talk. I have seen/heard it and spoke to them”please do not talk to my mother like that” my mother on a different time asked a tech “don’t shout at me” —1 med tech for entire bldg. at times.assistant living techs complain on how tired and overworked they are. Due to 2 overbearing loud employees I feel run off good employees to quit. Attitude to seniors is less than professional. Lacking RESPECT and how they verbally shout at my mom. Several techs are nice & compassionate but there are a couple techs not so much.. the good ones do not stay long., Now have terrible ant issue. Can’t get rid of them if workers pile dirty dishes in sink for days! I’m just looking /hoping for a piece of mind w/good care for my mother. My mother has highest level of care but when asking on services to be delivered expected I was told to hire an additional personal caregiver for the smallest requests!!!!! Please make sure you have EVERYTHING in writin.I’m removing my mother 4/17.im concerned for her safety.. & mental well being. I don’t know ant moms spirit broken. —Baur & switch knowing items were deal breaker for mom. Adm. will not accept any deviation of the LAW”from what sales employees states “we can work something out”We will not charge meals to room.meals . We understand LTC is slow paying. We will work with you. Management Renagge on all verbal promises. No verbal will be accepted by billing or director regardless your conversation from sales rep. when they give you the tour or go line by line on the contract and verbal promises never intend d to carry out.
Read moreI wish to thank all of the caretakers and staff at Edgeworth. Caregivers are kind, considerate and cheerful. My father has been there just short of a year and now that he is entering Hospice I can say that the service and care at Edgeworth has been consistently good throughout his residence.

My dad moved into Edgeworth Park at New Town. It's been great. The nurses are abundant. I can't walk out of his door and walk down the hall without seeing one, or two of them. They check on him very regularly. They spend time with him. They prod a little bit deeper to make sure that he is having a good day. The community is much smaller. In terms of the whole community, 88 total residents are their cap as opposed to a much bigger place that has thousands of people at different levels of care. So he seems to get a much better level of care there. His apartment is bigger and brighter. The whole facility is very bright and has a lot of sunlight coming in, which is nice. They have a beautiful courtyard area. It's huge. It has a little walking path which he can take his wheelchair around. It has bird feeders, it has flowers, and they let the residents plant stuff if they want. They have little gardens, or herb gardens, or whatever they want to plant, and lots of birds, which he loves. When he goes outside, he's looking into a beautiful courtyard that's very well manicured, and has lots of places to sit, instead of what he was looking at, which was if he went outside to get some air, he was looking at a parking lot. They have a library, they offer all kinds of things during the day, different programs. They have get-togethers every 3:30 pm, just come and chat, and have some time before dinner. They do family nights, I experienced that the other night, and that was just amazing. They put on a great, big buffet. They had nice food, pies, and all kinds of desserts. And they played games afterward, and we can participate. It's clean, it smells nice, and I've never seen any messes left on any of the tables. Everybody's right on top of it. And I see at least four cleaning carts. They have cleaning cards for each one of the wings. So it just seems like they're always out making sure that everything is tidy and kept, and trash is gone. I think the cost is commensurate with the amount of attention and care that he's getting, the facility itself, the food, and the number of activities. I think that it's all commensurate with the amount that we're paying.

I toured Edgeworth Park at New Town. It was a very, very nice place. They seemed to have a very secure check-in procedure there. The rooms were nice. The lady who took us on the tour was great. We saw their exercise room. Of course, we saw the dining room, and it looked very nice. It sounds like they are very responsive to people's dietary needs. An example that they used is that, if they have someone who is having a problem eating, they would work with them to come up with some things that he/she would be able to eat.
