Blossom Creek was a nice place. It's very clean. If I had to put my dad somewhere, they would certainly be a very high consideration. The staff who gave me the tour was awesome. I was a fireman for 30 years, so I've been on hundreds of 911 calls that involved family homes (small ones, big ones, medium-sized ones), and probably 75% of the homes that I've been in, I wouldn't want to put a loved one. But Blossom Creek is certainly someplace that I would want to put somebody. The rooms were nice, adequate, and clean. It was a positive atmosphere. You felt like it was a place that cared about the people that were living there. I can't specifically say what their amenities were, but I remember I was satisfied with the various activities that they had available for their residents. The surroundings were nice. I was very impressed with the atmosphere. There was a healthy, positive atmosphere there.

So far we love it. It has been a difficult adjustment, especially to memory care where our loved one has less freedoms. But she's proud of her room, and she introduces us to her friends. She really enjoys taking part in the activities. The only time we have trouble is if we take her out for lunch or things like that. It reminds her of how things used to be and kind of gets her down. But we know that we made the right choice for her care. Its just been difficult. I think all these types of places are overpriced, but they're right there in the ballpark with other places in the area. And I appreciate that there are no hidden costs. Every month I I know what's coming, and they never sneak in extra costs.

When a room becomes available, we will be moving my mom to Blossom Creek memory care. The one that we looked at originally was a shared bath and a shared room, and we decided that wouldn't be the best for my mom so we're waiting for her private room. It's very homey, you feel welcome, and the staff seems to know everybody's name. They seem to know where they all live, which apartment they have, and their needs. They're just really in tune with their patients. The room has enough space for a small twin or a full-size bed, a bookshelf, and a table with a chair or two. It has a window too. The bathroom is very simple, but it's got some place for them to sit when they take a shower. The one thing that I think my mom liked was that they have a cabinet where they could lock up their personal things so they can't get there without the key. That also protects their belongings from other people if they share an apartment. The other person can't get into it or they can't eat all the toothpaste or whatever. It depends on the point of how much dementia they have. It seems like it's a big enough room for one person to enjoy. You can sit at the table and you have your own space. It's nice because they can bring their photos and their furniture in so it's homey. That's what a lot of them have done. Their families will bring in a little table, their own bed, and some family pictures. There's one guy there that was an airline pilot and they've got airplanes and pictures and such. They can make it their own room, they can personalize it. In the halls, they have rooms where they can all gather and have their lunches or dinner together. There's a piano, three of them, one on each side. It just seemed very cheery and the staff was always in attendance, just right there with them. We weren't there at dinnertime, so I did not taste the food but they have a menu and I asked them about it. I asked what happens if, say, they're allergic to something. They said they make specialized food for different types of people.
