My wife is at Oaks at Charleston. They're very attentive. They're more people-oriented. Everybody down there is extremely nice. It's a very clean facility. They take pains to keep everything working. It's up to date. So far, I've been very pleased with them. The staff is excellent. Everybody knows their job. They're always trying to help. If you have any questions, they're right there. And if they can't answer the questions for you, they'll find an answer. The food looks good. I haven't had any of the food, but it looks good. The physical appearance of the place looks excellent. They do a good job of keeping it clean. And they do a good job of keeping the people clean. They're taking care of them. They have a lot of different kinds of activities. They play bingo, and they have some pets that stay there that they can interact with. To me, it's great. It's the cheapest one that I could find, but they do an excellent job. You get what you pay for, so it's really good. They have places where they can get their haircut. You can either bring your own hairstylist in or you can use the ones that they use. It's pet-friendly. They take them on outings, too.

There have been some aids who were very rude, don't want to help residents and have even said to a resident, "you don't need help." Every single time I bring any issue such as this to the attention of [name removed] or [name removed] they have been 100% excellent in trying to address the issue by weeding out the poor workers or by having a meeting. I could not ask for them to be more attentive and eager to address issues and to listen to complaints. They are A-1 at what they do and really do care. I do have concerns about no longer having a bus driver to take residents to Drs appointments. The deciding factor for us choosing The Oaks was because they had transportation to appointments. There is a rumor that they do not know if they will replace the bus driver who recently left and whether or not they would even continue transportation for Drs appointments and also, there is word that later this year transportation to appointments will stop completely. It seems in order to stay in competition with other assisted living fax they would need to continue with transportation to Drs appointments.

My husband is now at Oaks at Charleston. So far, it's been great. It's hard putting him in there, but under the circumstances, they treat him well. The staff is wonderful. Most of them have been there for years. Everyone is helpful. They know you when you come in and they say how are you doing? That's the biggest thing. They make sure my husband is comfortable. The condition of the place is okay; I haven't found any problems. I haven't tasted the food, but my husband can't wait to get out of the room to go eat, so it must be good. For activities, they had everyone gathered around in a circle. They had buckets and they were throwing balls in the bucket. It looked like they were having fun.
