Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Are Arbor Terrace of Decatur residents allowed to have pets on-campus?
While pets can play an important role in our lives, Arbor Terrace of Decatur does not allow animals in their assisted living and memory care apartments. Families may use the link above to make an inquiry about the community’s pet policy or ask questions about their reasonable accommodations for service animals.
Q: Will Medicare help me pay for assisted living at Arbor Terrace of Decatur?
Unfortunately, Medicare does not help families pay for assisted living. The Medicare program is designed to help families pay for health care expenses as they age (or after they incur a disability), and assisted living does not provide skilled health care or medical intervention. As such, assisted living does not qualify for Medicare financing.
Paying for senior living can feel intimidating, but there are ways to make it fit within any budget. Assisted living is often more affordable than families think and there are often flexible ways to pay. For more information about paying for senior care, please review our guides or use the link above to make an inquiry.
Q: Are residents allowed to bring their own furniture to Arbor Terrace of Decatur?
Yes! Apartments for long-term residents are unfurnished when residents move in, giving them the freedom to decorate as they please. However, the community suggests families measure their furniture and their new apartment before move-in day so they can decide which pieces to bring. In many cases, assisted living and memory care apartments are smaller than the homes residents move from, making it important to choose only the furniture that will fit.
For more information, please use the link above to make an inquiry.
Q: Are staff available around-the-clock?
Yes! Staff members are on-site and available to help 24-hours a day. Emergency response is included with monthly rent, giving residents total peace of mind that help is there when they need it.
Q: Do I need long-term care insurance to live at Arbor Terrace of Decatur?
No. While long-term care insurance can be a convenient way to pay for senior living, it is not required to live at Arbor Terrace. Having long-term care insurance is completely optional and residents are welcome to pay for care in a number of other ways.

Q: How does the Arbor Terrace of Decatur memory care community keep residents safe?
Safety is a major reason families seek memory care for themselves or their loved ones, due to the dangerous behaviors often associated with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Wandering, agitation, and increased risk of falls are all common for those living with memory loss.
At Arbor Terrace, entries and exits are secure to minimize the risks of wandering and confusion. Additionally, the community features a dementia-friendly layout that maximizes freedom while minimizing harm.

My Moms last 3 years were spent at Arbor Terrace Evergreen unit. The team of Resident Assistants are the most loving and caring caretakers. Mom wanted to adopt them all! They will forever have a place in my heart.
We are pleased with the caring and loving attention our Mom is provided with. All of the Assistants and Staff in the Evergreen Unit care deeply for not only the residents but the family members. We have found every employee at Arbor Terrace of Decatur to be responsive to any needs or concerns.
They could work on having a more special menu for certain dietary needs. They have a normal menu and a menu for those with diabetes but for those who need soft foods we had some troubles with getting certain meals
Our family had an in person tour and it was a good experience but it just felt a little more on the medical side

I love Arbor Terrace! I guess one could say I''m about as fastidious as one can be when to comes to my 104 year old mother''s care. But the one thing that I can say that I truly believe, is that Arbor Terrace cares. There are always "things and particulars" about each new resident that has to be explained by the family and worked out with the staff, but the leadership at Arbor Terrace is phenomenal. The executive director, David gave me the time with him that I needed to set me on right path to meet with an awesome young women named Angie, who made me feel assured and confident that my mother would be given the best care possible, assuring me that we would all work as a team to take this happen. After our meeting she scheduled in-service meetings with her staff to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to my mother''s care. We''ve only been at Arbor Terrace for one month, so there are minor things that we, as a team are still working through to find out the best way to give a 104 year old amputee who uses hearing aids the the most gracious living experience that she could have...And I know WE''LL DO IT!!! How do I know? Because when I told Mama that I was no longer going to be able to come to see her everyday now that I am getting back to work after being off for a year, she said "That''s alright, Darling, you go ahead, I''m just fine. I don''t have any worries". And I know she means it! Codie, our intake guide painted a true and honest picture of this wonderful home for seniors. Thank you, Codie and all of the Arbor Terrace staff.
