Mom moved to Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care. We liked the fact that they look in on her frequently and try to keep her active. We enjoy that part of it. Mom moved to Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care. We liked the fact that they look in on her frequently and try to keep her active. We enjoy that part of it. They even have a lot of events going on this week, getting ready for Halloween and getting the residents ready for it. Everything's working out pretty well with the staff. She's staying in a one-bedroom apartment. We like the fact that she has an exit into the hallway and her exit to the outside is into a fireplace court. They also have some two- bedroom apartments. There's only one floor. So, we do not have to worry about her falling on any stairs or anything. The highest she gets is a curb if she goes outside. They've got a beauty salon once a week and manicures on Mondays. They do exercises once a week for everybody. They can go into the workout room anytime. They have a library and a pool room that's open all the time. They've got a break area that's open 24 hours. I think they can go into the activity room anytime they want as well. I know they have a theater there and if they're not showing anything in the theater, you can go in there with your family and watch movies. You also have your own TV in your own room, a refrigerator and a microwave, otherwise you get to go to the dining room for the other stuff. They have an activity room that has a stove on it where they allow you to bake things in there and stuff like that. When it comes to food, they try to satisfy everybody's flavor even though they don't season it like you do at home. I like the fact that if you go out and if you get lost or something, you just continue down a hallway, keep turning right and you'll get to where you want to either to the hall, to the theater, or the activity room. They just missed some of the activities though. They're there and then something falls through. I wish they would improve on that. They have a lot, but when they have something scheduled and they don't do it, that's disappointing.

My Grandma lived on both the assisted living and memory care unit. Overturn is high at this place right along with the monthly rent. Upon entering, we rarely would see a staff member let alone a nurse. And most of the time, the attitude you get is not friendly, and uncaring. Not sure if it's a lack of training but my Grandma who was dealing with dementia deserved someone who had a genuine interest in her well-being and had patience. It sure seemed like it was always an inconvenience IF you did find someone. There was extreme lack of communication with her hospice team and no nurse on unit to get into locked med cabinet so hospice nurse had to call hospital to order meds so my Grandma could pass away comfortably. Terrible!!

My Grandma had lived on both the assisted living and Reflections memory care units at Villas of Hollybrook, Pekin. Upon entering almost each visit, you almost never see an aide much less a nurse. Major lack of communication with my Grandma's hospice team and Villas staff while she was passing on.. At the price they charge, there should be much better care. A lot of the staff really don't have the right disposition and caring personality needed to provide special care to Dementia residents. I understand adequate elder care is hard to find but is so very important to families like ours that have loved ones that deserve a trusted and caring soul caring for them.
