We moved our Mom to the memory care unit at Atria after her stroke. All the wonderful promises of activities and parties didn''t happen in her unit, only with the residents on the other units. She was there for 3 months and I spoke regularly with the staff about getting her to the prayer group. Never happened. But the final straw: another resident removed a piece of safety equipment from her bathroom and she became acutely agitated, calling me on the phone. She lost much of her ability to speak, due to a stroke, so couldn''t get the words out. I called the unit director to check on her, never happened. My brother arrived, discovered the problem and reported to nursing staff and when nothing happened, to the facility director. Still nothing was done till I called and threatened to send an ambulance to pick her up. Needless to say, we hit the bricks and found another ALF right away. She has been at The Lighthouse Lincoln for 8 months and we all couldn''t be happier, they are experts at memory care. UPDATE 1/9/24: Mom is still doing well at The Lighthouse, we all love the caring staff!
