We moved our Mom to the memory care unit at Atria after her stroke. All the wonderful promises of activities and parties didn''t happen in her unit, only with the residents on the other units. She was there for 3 months and I spoke regularly with the staff about getting her to the prayer group. Never happened. But the final straw: another resident removed a piece of safety equipment from her bathroom and she became acutely agitated, calling me on the phone. She lost much of her ability to speak, due to a stroke, so couldn''t get the words out. I called the unit director to check on her, never happened. My brother arrived, discovered the problem and reported to nursing staff and when nothing happened, to the facility director. Still nothing was done till I called and threatened to send an ambulance to pick her up. Needless to say, we hit the bricks and found another ALF right away. She has been at The Lighthouse Lincoln for 8 months and we all couldn''t be happier, they are experts at memory care. UPDATE 1/9/24: Mom is still doing well at The Lighthouse, we all love the caring staff!

The Lighthouse at Lincoln is very good. They have excellent care. It's a small community. So, it's meeting my mother's needs and they've taken good care of her. The building is new. It has four separate units. So everybody isn't together in one unit, which makes it more personal. The layout and the way they provide care and activities are very good. The staff has all been very good. They all know enough and have been educated in taking care of someone with memory care issues, and they are excellent at that. The meals have been excellent, too. They have a chef that prepares all the food. They have exercise, they have farm animals come in, and they have live music where people come in and sing and play the guitar. They had a harpist come in for the holidays. They have so many activities. Then they do different other activities like making crafts for the holidays. They made all different things. It's just beautiful.

After visiting several memory care facilities and trying to find the facility that best fits our relative’s needs, we decided on the Lighthouse at Lincoln. From the day we moved into the Lighthouse, we knew we had made the right decision. As soon as you step through the doors, you are greeted with a warm welcome and bright, cheery faces from the staff, especially our friends at the front desk: Mary, Judy, and Hunter. The facility is absolutely beautiful and kept very clean. All of the residents are well taken care of, and encouraged to participate in various activities, exercise programs, and trips outside to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I want to thank the entire staff for the amazing care they provide every single day. It''s important to extend a special thank you to Carla, Charlotte, Jennifer, Lindsey, and Sherry who go above and beyond in our loved one''s plan of care. We also want to acknowledge the Director, Lynn, and the Resident Care Director, Diane, who both work tirelessly to ensure the needs of the residents are being met. It’s so hard to name specific staff members because they truly are all wonderful. The nursing staff consistently keeps us updated on how our relative is doing and involves us in the daily routine. They are an incredible group of people that deeply care for the residents with compassion, empathy, patience and kindness. What we imagined was going to be a difficult transition, ended up being one of the best decisions we ever made. The Lighthouse has become our relative’s new home, and the entire staff has become family. Words cannot express our gratitude. Love, The Chelo Family
