ADA does not apply to this facility. I’m in the ER right now with a DETACHED RETINA and being transported to Shands in Gainesville. ...

Nothing has changed since 2019. Horrible verbal abuse from ALL EMPLOYEES. Lord to cover their asses. My service dog is BOARDED because they have a PET WEIGHT LIMIT. ADA does not apply to this facility. I’m in the ER right now with a DETACHED RETINA and being transported to Shands in Gainesville. No nurse or doctor on staff. The medication CNA’s decided not to get authorization from their supervisor to call 911. Felt I was too stupid to know I knew I needed to go to the ER and anyway it’s Sunday and they don’t work on weekends so they hang out on their cell phones in the break room and sleep in the common area. For this, emergency surgery to repair my eye is delayed and I could lose my vision. Activities are practically nil. The van has not worked in a few years. No Wi-Fi. Incompetent unqualified lowly educated employees.

After living with me, her son, I had to place mom into an assisted living facility due to her decline in physical health. I searched and searched, and discovered Harbor House at Ocala. This was four years ago, and after visiting her for almost every day since then, I've seen nothing but the best caring for her from the team at Harbor House. Sure, in any facility, nothing is perfect. Old folks complain as we get older (I'm worse than my mom). But I will say that I thank the management and staff for their continued and dedicated focus on the welfare of the residents, especially my mom. They have extended themselves beyond what would be expected to care for her needs and those of other residents. They all, younger and older, have a positive and caring delivery of service. They are festive in celebrating holidays. They offer a variety of daily activities. I have NEVER, in four years, experienced a negative situation or encounter at Harbor House at Ocala. The team is superb. I've entrusted my mother's welfare into their hands and they have ALWAYS honored my trust by their sincere caring for her, consistently and during challenging times. I have nothing but admiration for the staff at H.H. in doing what they do on a daily basis. I'll tell you this - we were very fortunate that a room was available at H.H. four years ago. Thank you all for all that you do!
