This facility has a very low patient aid ratio, which is important for any type of care.I would not recommend this facility for the elder who have dementia and can not advocate for them selves. I have witnessed patients including my loved one remain in fecal matter and dripping urine for hours!!! I went several times a day to care for my loved one because of the lack of help. It can take hours for patients to use the bathroom or be changed. The staff told my loved one they were busy!!!!!! The staff is unprofessional and uncaring. The nurses and the aides lack. compassion for the sick elderly patients . At times they are socializing in groups on the floor and no one is by any patient. Maybe it is their break , but I witnessed other wise. No one has answers …. Their common response is I don’t know. I don’t believe their charts are reviewed with each shift. I had to voice my concerns to the supervisor. Please stay aware of the care that is being given to your loved one. They deserve it!!!

My father was placed in here from a vascular infection ontop of having bad cellulitis This place is a joke especially the 230 to 1030 shift on the third floor rude as anything they leave my dad laying in feces nd urine hours at a time and treat him and the residents like theyre trash some these people who work there shouldnt be allowed to work with the elderly but i will give a big shout out and unlimited praise to franklin and Nicky who are the day shift aides for the third floor they deserve a raise or some type of bonus for how attentive and nice they are

the nurse is good . The nurses run from very good to ok.The nurse aids all are wonderful you have a problem the response time fair Food Two or three dishes or quite good but lately most of it’s been really just ok you have to remember it’s hospital food. The facility is constantly cleaned I am a resident at this time and from time to time I will post new things. But I have to admit their breakfast coffee is hot scrambled eggs cheese omelettes are great. But you must remember this is on my unit only which is third-floor A wing. This past Saturday the 12&13 of Feb nursing care was absolutely wonderful I wish it was be like that all the time on the weekends it’s not. Now for something new the people that run the kitchen are idiots this morning they sent up my breakfast tray it had orange juice coffee 0.63 ounce cereal To pats of butter and ketchup packet And nothing else I think they probably forgot the eggs. As always I will post from time to time. Sometimes the staff are great it’s the person in the next bed that can be a Problem by screaming in the middle of the night And not making sense and in the daytime are perfectly fine.

I delivered my baby at St.Catherine’s in Sept 2021. It was our first child and via c section so we were extremely nervous. My husband and I were so impressed with how friendly and professional everyone was, from the registration dept, pre-op nursing staff, to the entire maternity unit. Dr.Flores was my OB and she was so kind and made me feel calm and confident. My anesthesiologist, Dr.Kubanic, was a god send- so friendly and he knew how to distract me since I was nervous. He was remarkably professional, detailing every step of the process and explaining how I could best express any discomforts and get them rectified quickly. The RN team was amazing (Teri, Kenya, and Carol Ann were especially kind!), as was Connie, the lactation consultant who visited us every day. Our room was so comfortable- we each had our own bed, which was perfect since neither of us could go anywhere except the tiny maternity ward for 5 days (Covid). We each had our own tv, we had a large clean bathroom, our room was cleaned at least once per day. Food is so so- that’s honestly the one area that Stony Brook has them beat, but we brought our own snacks and they allowed patients to DoorDash. Would 100% deliver here again if I have another baby.

I am a Nurse Practitioner and have been an RN since 1977. I have taught with the School of Nursing, bringing student nurses to this facility. I was recently a patient there for 6 weeks. Due to the lack of care and physical therapy, I now have severe muscle atrophy and it’s now 2 1/2 months later and I can barely walk without assistance. The call bell was NEVER within reach unless I asked for it. I had back surgery and a week later my small intestines ruptured and I was septic. They never expected me to live, but thanks to a wonderful surgeon, I’m alive today, but that’s in no small part to that facility. I am going to pursue this so I can be a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves, along with my outrage. I intend on meeting with the Administrator of St Catherine of Siena, along with the Nursing Administrator.
