Its independent living community is very appealing but remember you are moving into a completely independent situation just like if you bought a condo in the city. If you need additional care as you age you will either have to hire someone on your own or move to the skilled nursing. If you need more care than a "mildly confused" situation with Alzheimers or dementia you will end up in skilled nursing. The continuum care communities are an outdated model of care. If North Hill could pivot and provide an integrated care environment it would be a great place and would reduce the stigma of having to move. My parents lived at North Hill in an independent apartment and they both died shortly after care in the skilled nursing section, Pines Edge. North Hill needs more support in the independent living for emergencies - like a social worker after hours. The security staff are not social workers and are too busy to pay attention if a resident is in crisis. It''s very sad. The place lives off it''s reputation.
