My sister was in Southland for 1-1/2 yrs. She''s blind and has a couple other health issues but not bed ridden. Although it was tough for her to give up her independent life, the staff at Southland took her under wing and she developed loving relationships with them. Not saying that there weren''t a couple issues that had to be addressed but when addressed, were handled professionally. My only complaint is not being able to get a code to go in & out for frequent visitors, which I was.

Nine years ago (2013), I spent two weeks following shoulder surgery at Southland Health and Rehabilitation in Peachtree City. In the summer of 2021 I broke two bones in my right ankle. Based on my earlier experience, I insisted that I be admitted to Southland for the prescribed rehabilitation. This was when the entire world was facing the Covid-19 pandemic, which particularly struck nursing homes. Two things impressed me most about the staff’s courage and care during my two-month stay at Southland. First was the way the staff addressed a Covid-19 lockdown: masks, gloves, and isolation to be sure, but also meals delivered to patients’ rooms, a welcome cup of coffee each morning, smiles and hopeful words from the Certified Nurses Assistants (CNA), mail and packages delivered quickly. Second was the commitment, the dedication – the strength of purpose – of all the staff. The person who answered the telephone was so cheerful, she energized the entire day. The CNA who delivered breakfast always had a smile. The Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Doctors who visited frequently seemed to remember my chart, my symptoms, and my progress in rehabilitation. And, when it came time to leave, many of the staff, including the Housekeeping Staff, came to help me gather and transport all I had accumulated over two months. However, I did not need their help to carry away the warm feelings and thanks I owe to the entire staff of Southland.

Treated my grandma terribly. Nurses are texting and laughing on the phone when trying to explain things to us about my grandmother’s treatment. Leaving her in the bathroom and forgetting about her. They are rude to the people that live there and ignore the people when they want help. They left my grandma for 50 minutes when she needed help. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! The worst place you could put your family members. I really expected more, especially when it is in Peachtree City. They also tried to give her medicine that she isn’t supposed to have after us telling the nurses that she can’t have it.
