The Haven at Springwood is a premier senior living community in York, PA. The residence provides everything a person needs to enjoy active and healthy retirement living. It offers assisted living services and memory care programs, each staffed twenty-four hours a day for maximum peace of mind.
A typical assisted living resident at the Haven at Springwood needs help with two or three activities of daily living. They live in one of the community’s studio or suite-style apartments, where caregivers assist them each day. Incoming residents can choose from one of four senior housing floor plans, each including:
-
Private bathrooms
-
Wheelchair accessible showers
-
Closet space
-
Spacious living room/bedroom combination
-
Semi-private rooms, for cohabiting residents
Residents may live alone, with their spouse, or with a roommate. The community offers companion suites as a money-saving solution for incoming residents, where two compatible people share one apartment. They share the same bathrooms and living areas, and have semi-private rooms for themselves.
Affordability aside, many older adults prefer cohabiting because living in a private suite can be lonely. Roommates give residents constant social interaction, improving their brain vitality and their day-to-day mood.
The memory care community offers a unique spin on residential living. It offers structured programs and activities to nurture residents with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, creating a soothing and safe environment for them to thrive. Memory care residents have access to the same personal care services and amenities as assisted living, including:
-
Medication management
-
Assistance with activities of daily living
-
Emergency call systems
-
Housekeeping
-
Laundry and linen services
-
Nutritious meals, served three times daily
Residents love the Haven at Springwood’s one-of-a-kind dining room, where they enjoy communal meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dining room is a large barn, converted into a beautiful restaurant-style facility offering vintage looks and a distinct experience.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: How do I know if the Haven at Springwood is right for me?
Each person is different, and the senior care programs that will help one individual may not help another. The Haven at Springwood is a community-based residential care facility and is distinctly different than a nursing home. Before applying, prospective residents and their families can ask themselves a few questions to see if an assisted living community or personal care facility like the Haven at Springwood is a viable option:
-
Can the person get around on their own?
-
Does the person need medical attention on an ongoing basis?
-
Does the person have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia?
-
Does the person require rehabilitation?
A person must be ambulatory to live at the Haven at Springwood. Nursing homes provide safer, more secure environments for bedridden individuals and are more suitable than assisted living centers.
The same goes for individuals who require ongoing medical attention. Assisted living services are not tailored for people with chronic injury or illness, and they are not a suitable alternative to skilled nursing facilities in such cases. The Haven at Springwood’s staff can provide medication management, but may not assist with injections, colostomy maintenance, and other skilled nursing services.
However, the community offers an exceptional short-term rehabilitation program. Their rehab services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy for up to 100 days. To learn more about the community’s rehabilitation programs, make an inquiry above for detailed information.
The best way to find out if the Haven at Springwood is a suitable senior care option is to tour the community. Schedule a tour above to see the residence in-person, sample their meals, and speak to their staff about their residential living. The staff give knowledgeable insight and help prospective residents learn if the Haven at Springwood is the right choice for them.
Q: How do I know if myself or my family member needs memory support?
Memory support services (also known as dementia care) help older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia live their best lives. The dementia care unit provides medication management and housekeeping like independent living and assisted living, with additional services tailored for individuals with memory loss.
Each person who applies to the Haven at Springwood must speak with a care adviser prior to admission to determine their level of care. The care adviser uses a pre-admission assessment to place the person into the right program. If the pre-admission assessment shows symptoms of memory loss or Alzheimer’s disease that require dementia care, the community may recommend they live in the memory support community.
Q: Does the Haven at Springwood offer short-term care programs?
The Haven at Springwood offers respite care for non-residents up to 30 days and short-term rehabilitation services for up to 100 days. To learn more about the community’s respite care and rehabilitation programs, make an inquiry above for detailed information.
Q: How much does the Haven at Springwood cost?
It varies. Each person pays a base rental fee that covers the cost of their apartment, basic housekeeping, and their meals. The community assesses additional fees for add-on services, like rehabilitation.
The community’s price range varies by floor plan and by each person’s care requirements. Prospective residents can use the “Get Pricing” tool above to get a personalized cost estimate, according to their care needs and preferred floor plan.
Q: Is the Haven at Springwood pet-friendly?
Residents may have one small pet, within the community’s guidelines. Most small cats and dogs are approved if they are quiet, clean, and well-behaved. Prospective residents should make an inquiry with the community, describing their pet in-detail to find out if it falls within their guidelines. Service dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome at the Haven at Springwood, in accordance with the ADA’s requirements.

Avoid this facility. If you''re considering this place read the one star reviews. We had the exact same experience. My wife and I chose this facility for my Dad after he had been diagnosed with dementia. We could no longer handle what was happening at home. After my Dad fell he went into York Hospital. He had been showing serious signs of dementia or Alzheimers for about 6 months prior to this. His Dr. at York Hospital told us that it was dangerous for him to live on his own. They told us that we needed to find my Dad a live in nurse or an assisted living facility. On top of this he also had serious heart problems and type 2 diabetes for which he needed 4 insulin shots a day. After York Hospital my Dad went into Normandy Ridge for rehab and was diagnosed with partial dementia. A live in nurse was far out of our budget so we decided on Seaton Springwood after touring several facilities in the area. Three weeks later he went into Seaton Springwood, they admitted him for level three care. We chose Seaton Springwood because the residents wear a gps wander guard. The facility seemed very clean and had more activities than some of the other’s that we had toured. Soon after admitting my Dad seaton springwood lowered him to a level 1 care from a level 3. He was going on their bus trips where he purchased ibuprofen and was self medicating on 4 occasions that we know of. We also had been told by seaton springwood that only people with power of attorney could take my Dad out of the facility. The staff here had let him leave for meals with friends of his who did not have power of attorney. We confirmed this with his friends who thought that this was normal and said that no-one stopped them and they simply walked out the front door with my Dad. The disorganization from the staff here was constant. They missed several of my Dad’s doctors appointments. My Dad also had to go to York Hospital because of gout in his right foot. It''s seaton springwoods policy to contact family about any hospital visits, we were never called or notified on this occasion. In late January 2024 my Dad started not feeling well on a Tuesday. The staff here knew that he wasn’t eating. They were monitoring his blood sugar because it was very low. They never contacted my wife or I about any concerns. On Thursday night when my wife visited him she knew something was wrong and insisted that he be taken to the hospital. He died 4 hours later, he had covid and died from respiratory arrest. When my wife found him Thursday night his bed sheets were soiled. Several days later when we returned to clean out his room they were still soiled, the staff here pulled the comforter up over the sheets and hadn’t cleaned his room at all. To add insult to injury Seaton Springwood charged us for February, a full months payment, over $4000. We had vacated his room on January 29th and were told that we wouldn''t be charged for February. We disputed this payment with our bank. The bank returned our money, the dispute was found in our favor. Seaton springwood also promised to return 2 prorated days for January 30th and 31st. As of the date of writing this review this money has not been returned to us and our emails to seaton springwood are mostly ignored. At this point we''ve given up on expecting our money to be returned to us. Some of the staff here are very nice and professional. Some others are not. Many of the people in charge are unprofessional and dishonest. Steer clear of this place, I very much regret choosing this facility for my Dad’s care. Another thing to note, many of the staff from seaton springwood write their own 5 star reviews of this place. That''s highly suspicious in my opinion.

I am a current resident here. Our days are as active or relaxing as we wish. We have a morning fitness stretching followed by a daily chronicle reading with highlights of that day in history. We have a devotional period where we can discuss passages of the new and old testaments. In the dining room we have 3 meals with a good diet. With friendly and attentive servers. Outside we have the opportunity for Seaton bus trips to nearby libraries and places like ice cream shops. A highlight of these trips are the conversations we residents have along the way. We residents have found it easy to be as social able as we would like to be with each other. There are many opportunities to engage and feel like you belong. What we find is that when we start the day with a smile it invites others to have conversations and enjoy each other''s company.
