The food needs improvement. Everytime I come to visit my mom for dinner, food is disgusting and overpriced. Small portions, over cooked meat and burnt toast tonigt. Last month my lasagna was still frozen inside.
They did not catch a few little kids that just wondered around

Rockwood South Hill was a wonderful place. There were a lot of things I loved about it. They were on several acres so the landscaping was beautiful and they had homes that people could have there. The food options were wonderful. They even offered a lot of special food to try to eat, like dairy-free meals, etc. So, that was a real plus. We saw people walking around and coming down. Everybody was happy. They got beautiful facilities. There are a lot of places for groups to gather and a lot of room to visit. They had a lovely dining room and patio outside. The person that took us around and the people from the office were all very friendly and very nice. The only negative thing about our tour was we only saw one room and somebody just moved out of there, but they said they were going to remodel it.

Rockwood South Hill has houses there. People live in their houses, but they don't have to worry about maintenance because they take care of everything. We also looked at one of the assisted living homes and it was OK. It needs a fresh coat of paint and then it'd be OK. The independent living is called The Summit, and that's their new building. It's like living in New York where you live in a building and everybody's got an apartment type of thing. They had more activities and opportunities. They had more movies, and they had an up-to-date library. They had lots of places like a little bakery, a coffee shop, and a wine bar. I thought Mom would be happier in Rockwood, but she keeps telling me she doesn't want to go to Spokane. I was impressed with it. That was probably my first choice, but my mom's friends are all down in Kennewick. They had houses and duplex in one section of it. The Summit was the apartments and The Ridge was more of the assisted living part. The one-bedroom apartment had a living area, a kitchenette, a bathroom that's equipped for the handicapped, and a separate bedroom. They had a two-bedroom, but we didn't see it. We talked to the marketing consultant, and I also got to tour a house. It was like a three-bedroom, two-bath house. One of the things I liked about them was that when people move out, they completely update. If you buy into a house, you can do some of the customizations, too. It's a separate house, and they're all one level. What I liked about Rockwood is it's a nonprofit. Once you get in, you stay in, you don't have to worry about having to move. You might move within the complex, like going from a house to an apartment to assisted living, but they don't kick you out. They have TED talks, they bring in movies, they bring in musicians because they have a theater in there, they have different church services, a library, knitting groups, they have an art room where people do drawing and painting, and they have a wood shop there. They had four different restaurants, a coffee bar, a bakery bar, and they have some walking trails. They also offer group outings to the Spokane Symphony, the performing arts center, Fox Theater, and they also have a place for hairstyling and they do some physical exercises, too. They had book discussions. They also come in with wine tastings, yoga, and meditation. They practice tai-chi, water aerobics, and three card games I've never learned how to do, which are Bridge, mahjong, and Cribbage. I'm considering filling it out for me. The staff members during the tour were really good about showing me what was what. It was clean. It didn't stink like my grandmother's nursing homes did. They appear to keep up on their maintenance well. If there is a problem, they just get in and solve it as fast as they can.
