To me, Robins Landing of New Berlin was unwelcoming, dark, and dreary. It smelled terrible. They showed no interest in us being there. All the residents looked like zombies. They were just sitting there and nobody cared about them. I wouldn't put my worst enemy there. They also did not have our appointment. They didn't know we were coming, which was very upsetting, because I rescheduled my work around it. We got to walk around the memory care area a little bit and then that was it because nobody was there to help us. By just looking around myself, I knew that this was not a place that I would put my mother-in-law in.

Robins Landing of New Berlin looked good. The tour was very thorough. The facility looked very nice. I think it can meet the needs of the clients who are selected to go there. It looked just fine to me. I didn't get to spend a lot of time because it was a brief visit, but it was a good one. For a first look, it looked good. The rooms were like small one-bedroom studio type things. They were doing an art activity outdoors on the patio. It looked like they were having fun. They had a TV room. It was all very modern and quite nice.

I visited Robins Landing of New Berlin. I'm very disappointed. I had an appointment, and they didn't realize that I was even coming. The person who was supposed to give the tour wasn't even there. They had me sit off to the side until they finished their meeting. They said somebody else might be able to give me a tour, and "Was I interested?" Well, after waiting 20 minutes, I said "I'll come back at another time." I was disappointed with feeling like I was more of a burden to them. I realize that there's a lot of short staffing at a lot of these facilities, but that one, I just did not feel was a good place for my mother. It was clean, but depressing and dark. It was not a facility that I felt my mother would be comfortable at. First of all, I felt that the person who greeted me at the door thought I was an inconvenience. Then the other staff member that finally approached me said that if I could hang in there, they would try and find somebody to give me a tour. Overall, I was not pleased.

High turnover, outdated and not clean. The outside looks like a federal building--no personality, no plants, not cared for. The good workers seem to leave after a short while and they are understaffed. I did not rate the food as I have not eaten it but currently seems to have improved. At least there's a cook on staff. People with dementia usually have issues so activities at this point is not important. Clean rooms and clients should be a priority. Value? I don't think so.
Read moreI toured Robins Landing at New Berlin, and I'm sure the caretakers are really nice. However, I was not impressed. It didn't smell good, the meals looked icky, and the rooms were small and outdated. This community needs a lot of work.

Robins Landing of New Berlin was just way past what I needed. Some of the people there even have dementia. I was there for 15 minutes, and the young lady that showed me around said, "This isn't for you." I don't want to live in a place where I have to get permission to walk out the door and have it locked on me. It took me just a few minutes to realize that it wasn't for me; just the simple fact that you'd need a wheelchair to go from place to place. The staff was showing me things, and then took me into a room and sat down and said, "I don't think this is for you. I don't want to waste your time and I can tell you this isn't for you." There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not for me, so she was very nice about that. The people there have different types of health problems, which I know is the human factor. It was very pleasant and very clean. What I noticed is that there was no smell of urine. It was totally cleaned up. I saw people going to meetings, people getting together in a club, and some of them were eating lunch. It was just like a normal day. They showed me the independent living and we walked through rooms, up the hallway, and through all of the different places. There's an area going out to the patios where they have places for people to see and do things. I met many other staff members too, and all of them were genuine and friendly. They're very pleasant and nice to the people. They're very caring as well.
