Reserve at Mills Farm was very nice, but it was way too expensive for me. It was very clean and smelled good. Patients were engaged, the rooms were cleaned, and this was at 2:00 in the afternoon. Everything was cleaned up. It was a weekend, too, so to me that was a plus that they still had it together, and the staff is short on the weekend. It was just too expensive for my financial needs, but I'm sure it's worth it for people who can afford it. They had the menus and activities calendars posted. The residents there seemed happy. They spoke to me, and the caregivers working with them spoke to me as well.

What I like best about Reserve at Mills Farm is the memory care has single rooms with six rooms per villa and guaranteed two caregivers for those six people. The rooms all open up on a common area, combination dining room, snack bar, activities, and all that. They're able to go outside to visit other villas in a secure manner. The price without levels of care added is equal to one-half of a double room price of the place that my wife is in right now. They were doing activities, and there were a couple of other things around the entire area that I liked better. What I don't like is that it's too far away. Also, my wife has Lewy body dementia and they seemed to be kind of apprehensive about that and that bothered me. They gave me a loaf of bread to take home. I saw the salesperson who gave me the tour and I saw staff working with the residents in one villa, and they were all doing an art project. It's very clean and it's fairly new.

We toured The Reserve at Mills Farm. It is a beautiful campus. The facility itself appears to be very new and well taken care of. It smelled really good; they were cleaning. I did not see a lot of wear and tear on the walls or doors or anything like that. However, I was disappointed with the coordinator that we met with. She was friendly to us, but I did not see her interact with people in the facility. In most of the places we went, the coordinator would call somebody by name or ask them how they were doing and how was their day. In some places, they would tell us, "This lady loves bingo, this lady loves to play checkers, and this lady likes puzzles". But at this place, the coordinator had nothing like that. I was not impressed at all.

It's quite expensive, especially for memory care. (One parent in independent living and one in memory care). Quality of care in memory care is hit or miss as well - some great staff and some not very good. I think the independent living is really good - great food - the dining room is like a restaurant with lots of variety and good quality. The apartments are well set up. The staff in independent living are all very friendly and seem to know everyone. It's very welcoming. We really like that my mother can walk over to memory care almost any time to visit him.
