Holiday Las Brisas was very nice. They didn't have much of a kitchen, so there was no oven. You could have a toaster oven, but I like to cook, so that was a no for me. Although they did offer me an apartment that the manager had lived in that had a kitchen and a washer and dryer, but it was available right now and I'm not available right now. The person who gave me the tour was sterling. I liked her. The apartment was very nice. We went to the dining room and I looked over all the snacks and everything. I saw a room where they were doing chair exercises.

The studio was spacious and appeared to be freshly painted. I give this facility a 2 star rating because the food was consistently cold and unsafe to eat as a result. Service was cheerful but very poor; e.g., half hour wait for breakfast, totally ignored for dinner until we grabbed someone to give our order and again food was cold when it finally arrived. This is a health hazard! Floors were dirty and haphazardly mopped. The place is clearly very understaffed. We decided against moving here based on our 2 days visiting our friend who lives there.

My impression of my tour at Holiday Las Brisas was good. It was very nice. It had a hotel feel, and it was well-kept. The people were friendly, and the place was clean. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, very pleasant, very informative, and very accommodating. The only thing they were doing at the time was playing bingo. It had a lot of outdoor areas, and that was nice. The way that the place was built was on a hill. On the third floor, you can actually go outside on this very private patio. There was a walkway a quarter mile all the way around. The outdoors was better than indoors. It's located so far outside of the town that you would have to be able to take a bus or something. You can't walk anywhere.

We also met the manager, Dorothy, and some of the residents. Everyone was genuinely nice and supportive. My mother and I liked the 4 rooms we saw very much as well as everything in the facility. It is very clean and attractive. When I asked my mother today how she liked Las Brisas her immediate response was "I love it!" As it turns out we have some timing issues. My mother is not quite ready to move back to SLO from the Bay Area. It will probably be about 6 more months before she moves, and when that happens I fully expect she will choose to live at Las Brisas.
