After suffering a stroke 6-29-22 and spending approximately 3 weeks at Derby Health and Rehab following her stay at St Francis for rehab. My mom was DUMPED at St Joseph 9-19-2022. During her stay at DHR She had been medicated to the point she was unable to talk. Left in the commons area in nothing but a hospital gound shivering and drooling. They ignored her family''s requests. Nurses, possibly short staffed or following administrations orders, seem to spend majority of their time on a computer, and ignoring the patients. She was brought to the cafeteria to eat without assistance & without even putting her dentures in at mealtimes. Better name for the place instead of Derby Health and Rehab, would be Derby Elderly Storage Facility! DIDN''T SEE MUCH HEALTH CARE OR REHAB! I hope your loved ones do not experience these conditions. Be aware!!!! Derby Health and Rehab? My question is what health and rehab I have video to prove it The name should be Derby We Collect Insurance Money and do not provide services, do not document performance blame the patient without documentation to backup there claims This is what they practice and this is what they did to an 80yo patient who suffered 3 strokes and a broken hip. They were well versed in health prior to arrival. They cared more about income and asset. Hospital Dumping and how they did it. Unfortunately, some nursing homes regularly evict residents illegally. No illegal eviction method is more frustrating than the hospital dump. In such a scenario, a nursing home has a resident transferred to a hospital for some acute care need. Then when the time has come for the resident to be discharged, the nursing home refuses re-admittance, often claiming, “the bed is already filled.” When a hospital discharges a patient, and the nursing home won’t take him or her back, it’s called “hospital dumping.” The dumping of mostly low-income nursing-home patients (or those who have become low-income because the nursing home has already taken all the money they have) is a growing problem, one involving a complicated interaction among nursing homes that complain of low Medicaid payments, hospitals put on the spot to find another facility to take the person, and frail elders and their families.

My aunt was there two weeks. Although there were several nurses that were wonderful, particularly Courtney, during the two weeks, my aunt’s sheets were never changed. They didn’t give her the prescribed medicines ordered by the facility doctors. Although she repeatedly asked, she never received pain meds until the day before she left (12 days). Poor service and no attention to the patients.
