Celebrate Your Loved One’s Legacy at Glen Carr House
One of the things that sets Glen Carr House apart is the LEGACY Program, a holistic approach to senior living that enriches residents’ lives across the board, from nutrition and fitness to social opportunities and engaging activities. Older adults love LEGACY, especially in how it allows them to customize their experience. For example, one senior may prefer painting classes, walking club and sing-alongs, while another might enjoy Crafters Corner, baking club and playing catch. They can design their days accordingly, knowing that the staff is there 24/7 to support them with everything they need to be independent. That includes handling emergencies, assisting with medication and helping with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, showering and continence.
Through community transportation, residents get the chance to enjoy life outside the community, too. They might stroll around High Park, visit the Kansas Aviation Museum or head to one of the many attractions in nearby Wichita. Glen Carr House’s convenient location also means it’s near excellent healthcare options like Rock Regional Hospital, Kansas Medical Center and Via Christi Regional Medical Center.
Glen Carr House: Innovative Memory Care Outside Wichita
The extraordinary staff at Glen Carr House don’t see helping seniors with dementia as a job; they see it as a calling. They work hand-in-hand with families to create individualized profiles of each resident; their likes and dislikes, their personalities and their life before the disease. Then, armed with this, they orchestrate an enriched lifestyle unique to each resident that nurtures the mind, body and spirit. It’s a groundbreaking approach and it’s one of the reasons this community is loved by residents, family members and staff.
That dedication to the residents extends to the dining program, where trained chefs prepare their favorite foods and dining personnel create a calm, elegant experience.

Mom is still there. Staff is very friendly, but the facility is in need of some updates and work. Very dull lighting in the main living areas, and patio areas need a lot of tlc. Bright light and sunshine are good for dementia patients. They have neither at this facility. Patio seat cushions have been left outside for the past 2 years. No flowers are ever planted. Just a brick wall and 2 wooden fence walls for them to look at.. when they get to go, depending on the weather. t Not much for residents to see when looking out the one small window in each main living area and their bedroom windows look out to a row of trees that haven''t been trimmed. They have nothing to look outside at, on the patio, in the main living area or in their rooms. Walls and dim lighting, that''s all. When entering each house, they have a very nice big and long patio outfront, but this is for staff, not residents. Change the patio area to an enclosed sunroom, with windows they can see out at the neighborhood. This would get better use than the patio area. Since they can''t go out on the patio unless staff is available to go out with them to sit.

We have not been able to visit the community yet due to the restrictions, however they just recently opened back up so we will get to go visit over Easter weekend. Our loved one is very happy at the Glen Carr House, she is just thriving. She is in the memory care area but she is much more alert then at her previous community. They have a lot of activities to do, she was actually participating in dominoes when we last spoke with her which was amazing to hear.

My mother was at Glen Carr for over a year before she passed. At first I thought she need more attention than what she was getting but by going there on a daily basis I saw that my mother had her own mind and did her own thing which sometimes was in conflict to her own best interest. When I was away from her I realized that Glen Carr personnel did their best to make her comfortable, safe and happy. Glen Carr has great people working for them and as any place of business they have some people that do not do their job. Most of my concerns were addressed by Glen Carr management and they always returned calls and was always willing to hear my concerns. My mother had dementia which is a terrible disease and very hard to communicate with people that have this condition but Glen Carr did a good job of listening and addressing all my mothers needs. I want to thank the Glen Carr workers and management for helping us make my mothers last year and days comfortable and not letting her feel alone. From [name removed] and her family Thank You

My grandmother and I went to have a visit with my grandfather . We were not allowed inside which is fine. We had to wear our masks outside and stay 6 feet apart. When we signed in, looking in the window the staff wasn’t wearing theirs and was definitely not 6 feet apart. I realize they can’t really take care of our loved ones and stay 6 feet apart but I would like to see the staff wearing masks especially if they are within inches from our loved ones.
