Read moreI would highly recommend it. I think there were tons of activities that my mother in law didn't take advantage of. She's not real social. Charter has a lot to offer for social enrichment. We picked this community, because of the convenient location and we knew someone who had been there.

We toured Charter Senior Living of Towson. I liked the person that did the interview, she was wonderful and a very compassionate person. The location was a little too far for me to travel to visit, but I liked the place and everything it had to offer. They had a variety of doctors available, more than other places did. While most places only have a doctor and a podiatrist, they had many services available. They also had a salon, and they had many different activities to keep the resident busy.

My mother is still at Charter Senior Living of Towson. She has been there for four years now. It's a well-maintained facility. They provide lots of activity choices for folks. They have excursions into the community for shopping or restaurant. Their staff is outstanding. They truly care about the people. When they took over the place from another company (and due to the pandemic), they raised the compensation for all of the aides, and they provided them with a benefits package, so they've been able to attract and maintain good staff. There's a notable difference between when Charter Senior Living took over and before Charter Senior Living. They were good staff before, but when somebody gets benefits, people feel better about the job they're doing. Also, they can attract younger individuals, too, so I would say they have really good staff support. It's a well-maintained building. The food is okay, but my mother is very picky. I think primarily the residents enjoy the cooking. They try to do a lot of special events like we're going to go to their Easter brunch this Sunday. And they're very attentive to my mother's needs. Also, their nursing staff took quite exceptional care of my mother after she fell there. So they were there to provide the right care, which I'm very thankful for and I can feel confident that my mother is in good hands. She feels safe, and she likes the staff, too. Everybody is excellent. My mother doesn't participate in any activities, but what I've observed is that they offer a variety of activities that seem to be well-participated by the majority of the residents. I see them participating, and they seem to be having an enjoyable time.

A beloved 99 year-old friend was at Charter in Level 3 care (bed bound requiring complete care) for the last year. Thankfully she has just been moved. I gather that the care for persons who can care for themselves there is adequate -- reported from another friend there who is able to advocate for herself. I would NEVER recommend this place for someone who needs complete care. The nursing/nursing assistant care was perfunctory. No love there. Often the wait was 30 minutes or longer when the call bell was rung. Only the dietary and maintenance folks seemed to connect lovingly with my friend who is lucid. The place was FILTHY when we moved her. It looked like the bed sheets had not been changed in weeks and the dust was 3/4 inch thick behind things and under the bed. THe food was awful -- some gray meat and potatoes at every dinner. We were very hopeful that Charter would meet the needs of my dear friend and were very disappointed.
