Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was great. The residents were involved in what was happening at the time. The facility was very nice. I liked how everybody was in their own little sections. It's a nice facility. It is not huge. So I think that my father would get a little bit more one-on-one just because they can see out and be able to get to see all the people. The staff was good. They were taking very good care of the residents and they were very enthusiastic.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was very clean and very nice. They're very pricey, but they provide you with everything. The rooms were very nicely kept and furnished. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating, and everybody was happy to be there. They prepare their own food, which is a nice thing, as they don't ship food in. It's very secure. They had a morning activity going on with some of their residents and it was music. They have a newspaper that they publish daily so some of the residents were reading that. The area where the resident's beds were seemed quiet and comfortable. Everything was well taken care of.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was a small facility. My sister's not very sociable and they had this central area for the residents to come and sit, but we thought she would not even be able to go and sit in these areas to just relax, just because of her personality. So, we just felt like it wasn't quite the place for her. However, the young lady that gave us the tour was great and I got a good feeling about what they would provide for her if she were there. They were also renovating the place, so the rooms appeared to be adequate and we had no problems with the physical facility. It looked very nice and very comfortable. I could recommend that someone go and look at it.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was nice. They're accommodating. The room was larger. There was space for my father to get around even with a power wheelchair. The one that did the tour was nice and she accommodated me. My trip is not until September, but I called her in the middle of January and she accommodated me. She even tried to get a hospital bed for him. They did everything to accommodate me as far as making him feel like he was in his own home. The staff told me they had the three meals and the dining area was set up like a restaurant where they had the menu and everything. I liked the layout. It was clean. You didn't smell anything. The air was fresh. The facility was very clean inside and out. The staff was very friendly. I was satisfied.

I had an in-person tour of Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. It was very warm and inviting. I thought it was small enough that it wouldn't be so overwhelming for my loved one. The executive director was absolutely amazing and very personable. It was more costly than the other facility. I like that they provided furniture for the rooms. They were standard rooms but could be fixed up to however we wanted for our loved ones, which was very acceptable. They have houses with different patients at different levels. One house was specifically for men, which I liked because that's where my husband would be. I like the separation and that they had people in charge of each house which allowed them to get to know the patients. They do have apartments and individual rooms. They had an array of services. When I was there, they had one meeting going on, and another was a movie. They promote the patients getting to know one another. They have libraries. Each courtyard connects to each house so that they can walk around, yet they can't leave the facility.

My mother is in Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest, and she's been there two and a half weeks. It is small, which is fine. I think that they need more staff and more professional staff on duty, like more nurses instead of CNAs or patient care techs (whatever you want to call them). The layout and the structure is pleasant. It's old and needs some updating with the furniture. She's not going to like anything about the place because she has Alzheimer's and dementia. She's not going to give you any positive feedback, because she is not home and she wants to be home, but she can't be at home by herself. They have a library, but it's very small. I haven't really seen the salon or it being used.
