My husband is at Brookdale Lakeway. He's in Clare Bridge, and I liked the staff. I thought they were very good to him. The only problem is they had a leaky roof. It's going through the lights for over a month. They told me they fixed it, but the next day, it leaked. I said, "This is a hazard. There's water going into his light over his bed and he had puddles for a while." They said, "What if we move his bed over here?" He had another leak show up later on the other side of the room and it's like, you're not going to move them out of this room. Do you just think we should just put them on another side of the room? Who else wants to do that? I don't care if he has dementia or not. You don't treat people like that I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They supposedly fixed it the next day it leaked. The director comes in and says, "We could just move him over here and by the way, we're raising your rates." He didn't win my heart. Other things bothered me, but I thought the staff was good, and it had the levels up to assisted skilled level on the ground, so if he got to that point, they could move him up there. I just hated to move him, but I'm going to have to. I just can't leave someone in a room with that leak. I feel horrible every day. I worry if it's going to catch fire. There's another couple that had flooding in their room, too. Their food wasn't great. They have a lot of celebrations, a lot of TV, and they do some activities for some of them, but my husband didn't do a lot. Whenever I was there in the afternoons and the evenings, they just turn the TV on full blast and sat them in front of it. They did do a field trip with them.

What we really like about Brookdale Lakeway are the staff - they are very friendly and they really seem to do their job not because they get paid for it but because the truly have their hearts in it. We can be very critical and we have to say it is an excellent community that has met our expectations. The residents so not always participate in the activities but they have different board games, get togethers all the time and just a wide variety of things.
