My father stayed here for rehab after a hip surgery in late February, and he was never given any type of rehab. Their excuse - he didn''t want to participate in PT. They should have called us or sent him back to his Assisted Living facility, where he would have been cared for. Dad was fed pureed food when he was able to eat solid food (we brought him hamburgers when we visited and he never once choked - we even showed one of the nurses). He wouldn''t eat the pureed food, so they threw it out. Dad lost so much weight. I tried several times to get him moved to a better rehab, but had no luck. They also neglected to transport Dad to two doctors'' appointments. I even called them to remind them an hour before the appt the second time around. The first time we were permitted to visit my father in his room (we previously couldn''t visit because there were Covid cases), his dentures and abduction pillow were laying on the floor. At least when I complained to a nurse, she had the items picked up and cleaned. My sister, who is a physician up north, phoned them constantly to check up on Dad and give advice, and they rarely called her back. Now she''s trying to get information from them on the cause of Dad''s death, but they continue to ignore her. They will sometimes answer the phone, but she is told she didn''t fill out the correct paperwork and they can''t send her anything. I wouldn''t send a pet flea here. I gave them one star because one of the nurses was very nice and tried to be accommodating to us, and most of the people at the front desk were helpful.

I would never recommend Avante of Melbourne to family or friend. I had a family member there. The care was deplorable. I have serious doubt they have any medical staffing. Medicine was not administered, Falls were not reported or cared for. The poor care ended up with my family member eventually going back to hospital and ending up in hospice care. There is no excuse for the poor care to those who need it most.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO THE FACILITY. they are not trying to help people get better, they are trying to keep people sick so they can keep collecting their Medicare checks. They won''t help people use bed pans, they force them to wear diapers, and don''t change them when they are soiled. My dad had to run up and down the hallways yelling at people to get them to do anything for my mother. Nurses steal from patients. Male patients try to break into female patients rooms at night. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!!! This is a nursing home from hell!
