Be weary whilst choosing this rehab/nursing home. Some staff are delightful while others are verbally abusive and clearly hate their jobs. My grandmother, once an independent individual who would host every party and never sit down at them, is now immobilized and needs assistance with pretty much everything. She has bladder cancer amongst other debilitating medical issuses and struggles with "holding it in." She is told she has to wait and I have witnessed her sitting in her own urine for over 25 minutes. This evening she expressed she needed to use the restroom during dinner time and she was told that no one can eat now because of her and she chooses the wrong times to have to go. Then she was brought back and was told she had to wait because they need two people and no one was available to help. So I took it upon myself to take her along with my 2 year old son and successfully changed her diaper and put her on the toilet all on my own with severe sciatica even though it is against the rules. I wasn''t about to have my only living grandparent sitting in her own urine again. These are just a few instances of many which might make you think twice about choosing this home. They are severely understaffed and the patients suffer because of it. I have witnessed it for myself. Yes, they take care of her medically, but the compassion is just not where it should be.

Our mom was at Wingate for about a year. She was in declining health since her arrival due to her illness. The staff and nurses, from the top down, were professional and caring. Our family was informed of all developments. The nurses in particular not only cared for our mother, but every one of them made a point to say hello to our family every day we visited. They updated our family about our mother and also inquired about our family''s well being. I feel that our mother was in good hands when I would have to leave. If your loved one needs long term care services, I would highly recommend the staff at Wingate.

My mom had good care there.

The first time I walked in there was no front desk staff, no security, really just no one period. I ventured down a few halls to look for assistance and found a nurse or aid or whomever laying in the lounge on her phone and when I went to ask her where my grandfather was, she barely moved and gestured me in a general direction with her hand. Also, they do not provide proper or even bare minimum assistance for the residents. Poor. Just POOR!
