We toured many prospective assisted living facilities for my MIL. SONATA at Windermere was far and away the best we saw. Excellence in facilities, price, value, cuisine, activities offered, and most importantly, staff who are genuinely friendly and concerned about our loved one''s well being. Since move in day 2 years ago, our high expectations have been surpassed on all levels. and our loved one is thrilled with her living situation. Director Jamie Lu is outstanding with communication and listening to concerns and compliments. (Concerns have been few, while compliments have been many.) We have found every person we''ve dealt with at SONATA Windermere to be stellar.

My mom lived at Sonata/Azpira for almost 2 years. Mom’s apartment had a stunning view of the lake. Sonata is best for those needing minor assistance (medication assistance, dressing, etc). There is a clique of very independent functioning residents who influence management. Most residents are friendly. Staff at Sonata was wonderful: the concierge (Zayonara and Val), Activities (Claudia, Lisa and Jill), maintenance staff, everyone in the dining room from chef to waitstaff… all knew Mom’s name and showed her much kindness as she started to decline One star off for Jamie P Wellness director. It should really be two stars off. Not only did she lack empathy (what was expressed was not sincere) but also would not provide any options for additional care other than moving Mom to a different facility. Which we did.

(NOTE: this review was written when this was The Sheritan. My mother lived out her time on this EArth another Sonata facility. I was THRILLED when I discoverd they''d purchase the failure that The Sheritan was.) If I could give the Sheritan zero stars, I would. My mother lived there for 6 months and we had chronic problems getting access to the memory care unit. They left my mother in the same clothes day after day including soiled underwear; let her sleep all day and not participate in the "activities" (such as they were - sitting in a circle around a diffuser and calling it aroma therapy is NOT an activity). Her sheets were not changed when she had an accident and her laundry was often just returned to her room - not folded and/or put away. Keep in mind this is not a hotel, it is a senior memory care facility. They FAIL.

My loved one moved into the facility a few months ago. With a change in management from [removed] to Sonata, the transition has not been smooth. Expected routines and management are not up to par yet. Myself, family members, and my mother are happy with the immediate staff that works with her - nurses and assistants. We are praying that all of the promised services (including routine showers, laundering, housecleaning, daily organized activities, etc.) will fall into place soon. Otherwise, the cost of the facility is certainly too high for the services currently promised but not offered.
