the staff is very friendly, memory care we are just learning how it works. Kia is very kind and helpful, front desk. Staff is wonderful. Melissa and Rebecca are sweet and knowledgeable. We’re excited to have a new chef and to experience the new menu. I have met many of the sweet residents in assisted living and memory care, If you have a problem with anything just tell the staff and they will try to resolve the situation. Thank you all for your team work as each and everyone try to do the best job possible for our seniors and loved ones.

Had our loved one there since July of last year in memory care. Took her out last weekend. Had to make numerous phone calls about having our oved one checked on because she was in her room for extended periods of time without her being checked on. Good thing I had the cameras in there. We had toilet paper and paper towels taken from our room several times. Our loved one was left in her room for approx 6- 7 hours without being checked on several times. Not even offered breakfast or dinner a couple weeks ago. I thought the residents in memory were supposed to be checked on every 2 hours due to some licensing the Blake has but it sure didn''t happen. Had a male resident go into our loved ones room while she was in there (her door was left unlocked) and was on her bed. She had to yell for help and the staff had to physically fight with the resident to get him out of her room. Just recently, (her door was left unlocked again) a female resident was in and out of our loved ones room while our loved one was trying to sleep for an hour and 45 minutes going over to her bed waking her up going into her bathroom , etc until I called and got a hold of the nurse to have the door locked. There is alot more that has happened in the little time our loved one was at the Blake. It is just exhausting thinking about it. It looks nice on the outside but the residents don''t get the care they need. If you have your loved ones there in memory care please put video cameras in their rooms. I can''t even blame all the staff because there are a couple of the girls that were good and then some not so good but they are so understaffed that the few good staff were overworked and while the higher ups just don''t care. I have contacted Rebecca and Margaret, and Alvna and even the new director of memory care now Kia who doesn''t even answer his emails 98% of the time. Nothing changed. My moms showers were random/seldom. If she was lucky , she would get maybe one shower a week when she was supposed to be getting 3. I changed my mom''s bed sheets the first 2-3 months she was there until I met Betty and she saw me changing them. After that, Betty and Allison (both caregivers one that isn''t there anymore) made sure that my mom got her shower and that my mom''s sheets were changed when they were working (so she at least got 1 shower a week for sure. Thanks to them. Not the management that''s for sure). Those 2 also ended up cleaning my mom''s room on Ocassion because it was RARELY cleaned to the point the floors were sticky. Soup was spilled by my mom''s front door on the floor and I laughed every time I left from seeing my mom and said "Mom I see the soup spill mess is still here!". All the way up until the day we left. "Yup, it was still there. Still wasn''t cleaned and mopped. Another person''s review about this place was spot on: the Cameras in the room shows all the neglect there. And there was ALOT of it.

They are always short staffed. Staff is extremely slow to respond to the needs of the residents in their care. Residents are left in bed despite repeatedly pushing their call buttons and also left in the dining room for an extended length of time after meals or completely ignored. Residents in memory care are neglected. MC has a very strong odor of urine due to diapers not being changed frequently, which causes them UTI. The facility has no cameras in the common areas so accidents and neglect can’t be investigated. Certainly not a good place for your loved ones.

The rooms are good views aren't, the staff are nice but seem stressed, the food I had was not as good as it had been. I've seen inhabitants looking needy for aid but no aids around. The inside of the place is very pretty, but that's it. There is no pool or balconies. They have a nice courtyard but if you are in a wheel chair you can't get to the courtyard as the doors to access are handle pull out (there is no electric automatic door opener)...so it's kind of a tease for residents who would like to get out there and enjoy but physically can't. It's also too cold in the common areas for the elderly. It looks good but overall it's overpriced for what you get.
Read moreThe Blake at Hamlin is a fairly new facility. Everything was new and clean. The rooms were nice. You provide your own furniture. The director was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Overall, The Blake at Hamlin was good, and we were considering it. The part I would give them lower points on was the fact that they assumed that they could take my mother, and then after a few discussions with several different people, in the end, they called us and said they couldn't take my mother, so that was very discouraging. It would be better, and I would have appreciated the place more if they had told us that upfront. But the staff was very nice. The rooms were good. The facility seemed very black and white like the pictures on the walls were black and white, which seemed a little stark to me. Maybe a little more color would help, but the place itself was a nice building. It was a newer building. The size of the facility was good. I thought it wasn't too big. The units were very nice.
