What I didn't like about The Rockwood was that everything was old and dark. I know it's an older building, but they could paint that woodwork. It was clean. It was just dated. It was also smaller. The rooms were nice though, and the kitchenette was better. We liked that it had a stove, a refrigerator, and a washer and dryer. They had underground parking in the basement. I just didn't like that there's a charge for it. That pulls up the price. We weren't that happy with the location as well, because I understand that the train tracks were not too far away. I didn't like the idea of the train being that close.

The Rockwood is the best urban senior living that I have seen. It's small and it's a little jewel in the middle of a gorgeous little town, that is very walkable. There are cafes, stores, and boutiques surrounding the community. The staff couldn't be nicer. It's a historic building, with beautiful touches like original woodwork and original tile floors. I can't rave enough about it!

My mom lived at the Rockwood for about 5 years. She settled in to her Rockwood apartment with her cat and she was very pleased with her beautiful, spacious, light filled new home. She thoroughly enjoyed the many activities and being able to dine daily with her new friends. Transportation to stores and the doctor was provided at no additional charge. The Rockwood is small so there was no getting lost in long hallways and every staff member and all the other residents knew her by name. It was a very loving and caring environment for her. The facility was warm and inviting and it felt more like home than other large and institutional type independent living facilities.

We didn't like The Rockwood. It was a 1928 apartment building, so everything is old, it's dark, sort of dreary-like, and they only have about fifty or sixty residents there. We didn't like The Rockwood. It was a 1928 apartment building, so everything is old, it's dark, sort of dreary-like, and they only have about fifty or sixty residents there. We just met like the lady that gave us a tour. It was sort of a brief tour, and they kept saying about the library. It's just dark wood there. It's just old and the bathroom had like, little black and white tiles that they used to have in bathrooms. It was right on the street there, so it's walking distance to everything, but it's just an old building. We thought it was sort of depressing. They were sort of proud of the library. They have a little fitness center. They have a little garden outside. They had a gentlemen's club room with a fireplace and a tea room.
Read moreThe administrative staff refuses to get COVID vaccinations. There is a cook, not a chef, and the menu is high in sugar and very low in protein. Beef and pork are always too tough to chew. Much food is retuned uneaten. The concierges are excellent.
