The Reserve at Pasadena probably needed a little bit of updating, but the people were nice. The rooms were spacious and the staff I met were very pleasant. They made a meal for me and the food was good. They had a salon, an outdoor courtyard area, and a community area, too.

Lisa was so pleasant and informative. We greatly appreciated not feeling pressured. One of my sisters and I visited the facility and then later my sister and Mom visited. The facility was very nice; however, it is more expensive than the location my Mom is current living. As soon as we get our Mom qualified for Patriot Angels she want to move to The Reserve. Her lease is up in a month, but my understanding is that she can qualify for Patriot Angels yet.

The Reserve at Pasadena was very clean. The lady that showed me around was extremely helpful. The apartments were very nice and very large. You had options. You could have a private room or shared room and their prices were flexible enough. If you needed a lower price, then you could share a room with someone. Plus it would give your loved ones someone to talk to. The dining area was nice. They have their own chef and they accommodate if there are any health restrictions. They have arts and crafts activities and exercises in which they try to encourage the residents to come and join in. I think some people, like my mother, need that encouragement to get out and get more active. As much as I liked it, it wasn't an option for us. They didn't do sliding scale insulin and my mother's diabetic.

I chose The Reserve at Pasadena for my husband, because they had a memory care and it was an established place where people are happy. What I liked the best about it is the caregivers. They are caring, loving, and they take good care of the residents. They have good activities, but there's just not enough of them. The facilities are very nice, and they have very good food. It's also the closest one to me, and it's right by a hospital.

This community and the staff who work there are phenomenal! Though this is an older building that could probably use some updates to the decor, when you walk in and start getting a feel for the place there’s a great energy here. The residents all seem to be very happy to be there and the employees also seem to enjoy working there. The building is very clean and well kept, the grounds are also cared for. Julie Stair toured me as I was looking for my mother for her potential move to the area. Julie was quite knowledgeable and friendly, and her rapport with fellow employees very positive I could tell she had great confidence and trust in the staff that provide the care to the seniors. I had the chance to ask a resident in their lobby how they liked living there and how they liked the food and they were happy to share how pleased they were to live there and that colonial oaks was their home.

We haven't even moved my brother in yet, but are so impressed with how Catina and Michelle have facilitated his transition from a skilled nursing facility to Colonial Oaks. They always make themselves available to answer any questions or take any steps to smooth his move-in. We can't help but be optimistic that they will continue such care and attentiveness when my brother is a resident there.
