The Pines are a Diamond in the Rough. The facility and grounds are kept in pristine condition. Amenities are great. Location is ideal. Most importantly, all of the staff are top notch. Friendly and happy to be there. They take care of my parents extremely well.

I moved my mother to the Pines On Carmel from another assisted-living facility, where she was not receiving the care that she needed. Everyone at the Pines treated my mother with dignity and respect and love. Her physical needs were met extremely well, and as those increased, the staff consistently took excellent care of her. Everything, from the admission process to her final days, was smooth and professionally handled. It was lovingly handled. At the end of my mom’s life, when Hospice was called in, the Pines worked with them, and gave our family privacy as needed. I have looked at many facilities in Charlotte in the last year and hands-down, the Pines is not only well staffed, but also so responsive to the resident and to the family.

Overall this facility does have some great staff however the biggest concern is if Shakira or any other leaders can’t properly communicate with families, be empathetic and accept necessary feedback to help improve the residents experience this community will not grow the turnover rate will. I openly communicate respectfully when there is a concern and I’m very active and involved when it comes to my granny. A month back I addressed the fact that I found my 90yr old grandma with an unknown pill in her hand unattended and confused (in memory care)the admin that I spoke with during the time assured it would be handled. I also discussed additional issues and ever since then the communication has been off if I have a concern when I speak with Shakira there’s always a rude defensive response or pointing the blame on other staff and temps instead of solely focusing on a safe healthy SOLUTION for the elderly. Everyone isn’t meant to be a leader. professionalism is very important when interacting with others.
