I will NOT recommend this place -- I believe my husband was admitted on or around April this year...it has been a while but I feel I need to share our experience. Baptist Hospital suggested my husband be transferred to a facility for physical therapy. We chose The King''s Daughters & Sons on Appling because of their location close to home. The check-in process was efficient, I stayed with my husband from 6am to 11pm every day and worked from his room. The staff at night (the 11pm shift) was loud and you could hear their conversations and laughter echoing in the hallways. This was disruptive to the patients trying to sleep - I politely asked them to lower their voices. The resident directly across from my husband''s room was hard of hearing and her TV was so loud that even with the door closed we could hear the program she was watching - this was awful. Again, I asked the staff to ask the resident to lower the volume of her tv and/or close her door. The volume was turned down. What I was not aware of is that when you are admitted to such facility your doctors have "no saying" and the patient has to follow what the facility''s doctor recommends. This just did not work for me as my husband had several health issues and is sensitive to certain medications, especially antibiotics and I closely monitor everything he takes. This is where I clashed with the Head Nurse -- she had an attitude and did not like me monitoring the administration of medication. The argument was such that I was told "if you don''t like it, you will have to leave". I called the following morning to check-out and removed my husband from the facility. My husband stayed there 3 days (too long). The other employees had also attitudes, very few of them were genuine and caring. Never again!

The staff also curse and talk bad to the patients!

In my must humble opinion, The Kings Daughters and Sons is the reason my husband suddenly passed away on 5/3/2023. He was admitted to this facility for physical therapy due to a neurological disorder. Was admitted in January and things started off fairly well. After a few months, a male CNA assigned to him started to physically and verbally mistreat him. This guy was reported to administration and was let go (they say for other reasons). Shortly there after staff decreased as did patient care. My husband was neglected in ways such as shorter shower days, inadequate nursing attention to meds, lack of observation to conditions that required attention from doctor and finally they failed to notify me that my husband was seriously ill and required hospitalization. Two days later he was dead. Upon arrival to the ER prior to his passing it was discovered by the E. R. nurses and myself that bandages that had covered biopsy locations on his body placed a week prior due to an outside appointment AND instructed to be removed the next day, were still attached to his skin and had turned unsightly and foul smelling green. This means that my husband was not given a shower in a weeks time. Let it be known that I myself had fallen ill and was unable to make my daily visits. We spoke on the phone each day until 5/1/2023 when I was unable to reach him. It was only when I called the nurse that in an “oh by the way “ manner did she tell me that an paramedic had been called earlier to take him to the hospital for OBSERVATION. Needless to say I was outraged and rushed to the facility (still sick) and the paramedics had just arrived after hours of waiting. There was an outbreak of COVID that made the living conditions at KDS even worse. Had my husband been given the proper care and the staff doctor notified in a timely fashion he would not have died such a horrific death. I could go on with other deficiencies at this facility but it would take up too much space. The state of TN has been advised as well as other agencies. To that end, if you have a loved one who needs skilled nursing or long term care, DO NOT even consider this place. The Kings Daughters and Sons reputation is not what it use to be. The name should be changed to We Get Paid To Do The Least.

The King’s Daughters and Sons Home, in my experience, is the best facility of its kind. The care my mother received during an extremely difficult time was first class. My mother was there on two different occasions and the staff kept us up to date on her condition and listened to our feedback. The staff who work there are special and doing the most important jobs of taking care of our loved ones in need. Several of them even went to visit her at the assisted living facility when she transferred there for a short time. Our community is most fortunate to have such a special facility!

Have very mixed feelings about this place. I just called and no one answered the phone for half an hour, then when they did answer they transferred me to my Moms hall and no one answered so it is almost impossible to get info on your loved one unless you visit and even then difficult. That is why I go 4 times a week! The evening nurse on my moms wing is downright rude and defensive as are many of the evening staff. The woman at the reception this evening didn’t answer for half an hour then accused me of harassment when I have been trying to get info on my mother for an hour then hung up on me. If you put your loved one here, ask questions and be present, but know if you are present you often will not be very welcome. One good thing she has a consistent PCA who seems to take care of her well, even if she is usually unhappy, and disgruntled
