I went to look at Holiday the Clairmont. I liked that the rooms were larger. It was an older facility. The courtyard seemed like it needed some work. They seem to be pretty standard with the other places that we looked at. They had home health in the building. The rooms were large compared to other places we visited. The thing that I didn't like was that they did not have anybody there overnight. It's not too far from the hospitals, and there are restaurants around.

My father-in-law was at Holiday The Clairmont. He has Parkinson's so he shakes a lot and they were accusing him of doing some horrible things when he wasn't. He just shakes. If you don't know that he has Parkinson's, you're going to think something crazy, and so they just treated him very poorly, and they're still trying to charge my husband for money. I don't understand why. The only thing I liked about them was that they gave my father-in-law a little monitor thing and if he needed anything, he just pushed the buttons. You would hang it around your neck. They had ants coming out of the air conditioner unit, all in the kitchen, and it's on the third floor. My husband said they have pretty good food and they would also deliver to his room if he didn't feel like eating at the dinner place. I think they had pretty good activities, too. The facility looked like a broken-down apartment. It was always very clean, though, but it's just a very poor building. They need to do whatever they need to do to step it up because it is an old building and the ants coming in from the third floor means there's something wrong.

There were several reasons why we chose Holiday The Clairmont for my dad. The first one is my wife had previous experience with them. Her grandma was there for seven years before she passed away, and she had a good experience there. So that was the number one reason. The number two reason was because of the cost. It was within our budget. The number three was that it was very close to my home and very close to my office, so it was very convenient for me to be able to run there whenever necessary. It has been in existence for a long time, so it's not extremely modern, but it was clean and nice. I met the activities director. Her name was Bethany. She was very nice and very helpful. Even though we didn't have an appointment with her, when she saw us there, she was willing to take time out of her schedule to help us until the leasing manager could get there. After the leasing manager got there, she was also very helpful, very kind and everyone seemed very caring. They serve three meals a day. My dad and I went over there yesterday and had a complimentary lunch in the dining room before we made our decision.

I went to look at Holiday the Clairmont. Kathy was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the facility and about the issues and problems that the elderly have. It's a very nice place and very clean. We were very impressed with the whole setup of the facility, the amenities, and everything that it offers. I think it's a great place. I love the layout, especially one of the rooms that we looked at. We viewed three different sizes of rooms, and the larger one-bedroom apartment was great. They showed us their schedules for all the activities that they offer. They provide three meals a day to all of the residents. They provide transportation to appointments or activities that any of the residents may wish to attend or go to. I think it will meet our needs very well.

I had an in-person tour of Holiday The Clairmont. They were still doing some remodeling. The only thing I didn't like was that you have to pay extra for covered parking and internet service, so those two things were an additional cost. Right now, our home is in the area, and it's close to places that I'm familiar with. The staff was very thorough and nice. I like the rooms. They seem kind of spacious. The dining area was restaurant-style. The tables were all set up. I understand that they give you menu choices, so you have a couple of choices to choose from. From what they told me, they are known for their best meals. They said they had activities, but I didn't observe anyone participating in activities at the time.
