I looked at The Bridges at Mission. I like the facility. I like the fact that they work with Alzheimer's and dementia patients and it's their specialty. My mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so that was a real plus. However, I was concerned about the fact that they don't accept any insurance and it was all self-pay. Between her and us, we have to see if we could afford to pay that amount monthly. That was the only thing that we were a little hesitant about, but we liked the facility. They showed me some rooms that had just become available. They showed me the dining area and stuff. It was nice because they had little areas where they could meet with the family. They have areas like a little TV room and different places like that. So that was nice. Another thing that I didn't like is that they didn't have a nursing staff available. They have hospice nurses that come in or something like that, but we were kind of wanting a place that had nurses on staff. Also, they had no kitchen available. It was still nice, but I didn't care that they brought the food in and stuff like that. I like the layout, the rooms, and everything. I also met the secretary; she's very pleasant.

The Bridges at Mission was not what I thought it would be. It was not inviting. They showed me the area where the residents were, and it was a little dirty with towels thrown all over the place. They showed me one apartment, and there was a cockroach on the floor. The staff was very nice and helpful. I saw three residents that were watching TV, but I didn't see anything else going on at that time. They had a garden outside that looked pretty. They could make the place look a little bit more friendly so that residents are going to feel comfortable. The facility had a lot of wear and tear.

We chose The Bridges at Mission. My mom is already a resident there. They have been excellent so far. I've talked to the administrator several times and she's been very helpful. I have no qualms with them. I've visited the facility. I went and saw my mom the other day there, and she was quite happy. If my mom's happy, I'm happy. She is in the memory care unit. We don't know so much about the food because we had a two-week period where they asked us not to come and see her, but she said that they feed her very well. She did aerobics. They have painting, karaoke, and stuff. The only thing we were kind of worried about is that they did not have church service. We went and sat outside, and it was a very nice area. We wouldn't have to worry about her if she went outside by herself. You couldn't ask for a better staff. The administrator gave us her home phone number.
