We are signed up to go to The Gardens at Brook Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. We love this place. We chose it because it's like an apartment. It's got two bedrooms, a front room, a kitchen, and two bathrooms, so it's more like a home. The staff is very professional and very friendly, and they go out of their way to help you. I saw one activity that was going on. They were doing a craft. Some people were sitting around reading. There wasn't a whole lot going on. People were outside having picnics and stuff like that. They have a library, a workout room, billiards, exercise classes, and meditation classes. They have a van that would take you to doctor's appointments and shopping.

The reason that we decided against The Gardens at Brook Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care was because it wasn't furnished. Everything was good. There were activities going on while we were there. They were doing chair exercises. The dining area was very nice. They had patios that went out on the bottom floor to a nice garden-type area. The living atmosphere was comfortable. We would have taken this place, but it was three stories. And with my mother's condition, I didn't think that would work for her. But other than that, it was great and the best one that we saw. The only problem is moving the furniture up there.

The Gardens at Brook Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care was a much bigger facility. They had senior living apartments in the front and then in the back where they had assisted living and memory care (I visited the assisted living). It's a very large building and a lot newer than the other facility I visited. They had a very nice room. They had a one-bedroom apartment with two different sizes and then the studio. The studio was very large and very nice. It came with a small-sized refrigerator, a sink, and a very large bathroom. It was very modern. They had a little tiki bar and a whole list of activities that they did every hour. My husband's a smoker and so they showed me the patio where he could be free to go outside and smoke out there. I was very, very impressed with it. I wanted to move there myself. The staff was very friendly. Everybody greeted me when I walked in, had me sit, and offered me water or whatnot. Then the person that took me around was very knowledgeable, gave me lots of information, and they even offered help with moving, to furnish the rooms. I was very, very impressed with The Gardens at Brook Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. I saw that they have a chef that could serve meals. What was nice about that was for breakfast, if you feel like just having a breakfast taco, you can have that. They would give the residents an option if they don't want whatever they happen to be serving that day, which I also appreciated.
