My mother went with TerraBella Greenville. She is an elderly senior and this place has an older population, so it's more her age group, and it is more laid back. The majority of the activities are in the main lobby. They have a lot of activities in the lobby, in the corner of the dining room, or in an activity room. People can be sitting around just listening to music or participating with activities because everything is centrally located around the lobby. It's an older building, but it's very well maintained. Just by coincidence, two of the other residents there are actually retired ministers. One is a retired Navy chaplain and another is a female who has a masters degree in Divinity, and they have Bible study classes weekly. They have hymnal singalongs. For the elderly seniors, these are things that they enjoy doing, to sit around with somebody who's playing the piano, singing old gospel songs, or having a Bible study group where they'll review histories in the Old Testament of the Bible. They have bingo, arts and crafts, trips to go to WalMart, or to go to the banks, or to go to the mall. The people of her age group, they're very inviting. They have exercises, but they don't have regular exercise exercises per se. They have chair aerobics. In the activity room they'll have a bunch of comfy chairs without arms, and they'll actually sit there and they'll do exercises while they're sitting in their chairs. My mother doesn't get up early. So, she usually gets up and goes to the dining room around 9:30 a.m. when breakfast has already ended, and she just goes to get coffee. But the people there who are preparing in the kitchen for the lunch items, they will bring her something even though she says she doesn't want anything. They'll bring her something like a bagel and cream cheese, or they'll bring her some fruits. The staff is wonderful, super, super friendly, and very accommodating. Her apartment had just been redone. They had totally redone the floors and repainted it. They had a new refrigerator. When we got there, the apartment was very, very clean. The housekeeper that was going to be doing the housekeeping in her apartment actually came by, and was very, very nice, and told me not to worry, and she's going to take good care of my mom. They are giving age-appropriate activities for the age group that they are dealing with, and they're very good about making announcements. They actually have doctor services that come there Thursdays and Fridays. They also have occupational health, physical therapy, and podiatry that comes and sees them there.

My biggest problem with Terra Bella is the fact that it is an "independent" community, meaning that there are no care providers who reside there, but all residents have to pay for the dining room. A truly independent living facility should have this as an option and not a requirement.

My parents are enjoying their new place at Terra Bella, however we have experienced a few bumps. There was a cockroach problem, which I quickly addressed. The food has been awful, food service is awful, (it takes up to and at times over an hour to be served) the portions are extremely small and the food temperature is cold. My parents were promised weekly light housekeeping; they are lucky to have someone come in and lightly go over the bathroom countertops, maybe once every 3 weeks. There is little to no communication with the staff and tenants. I've suggested a few things to help, but nothing ever comes about. Terra Bella was bought out by another company on [date removed], and we've seen no improvements. The facility is in great need of updating and deep cleaning. The carpets in the hallways always have debris on the floor, the carpets throughout the facility are "filthy" and worn. There is only ONE elevator for the entire building, which tenants and guests have to wait for. The tenants are very nice, with an exception of a few, that should not be living there, as they need to be in a facility with specialized care. We were told there is a bus that takes tenants to certain places, but, since the day my parents moved in [date removed] up until the past week, there hasn't been a bus driver. Sanitation and cleanliness is not top priority at Terra Bella, which is very disturbing. I apologize I have so many negative things to say, but, I'm only being honest with my review. We keep hoping any day now, we will see improvements and updating. We are extremely happy with the in house hair salon; the lady does such a beautiful job on my parents hair! We are extremely happy with the in house company that provides PT/OT, Speech Therapy and basic home nursing. These girls are outstanding, communicate very well, very professional and do what they can to help. This service, is so wonderful, being they are right there inside Terra Bella, and my parents don't have to leave to go to an outside facility. Regards, [name removed]

I would tell others this has been a life save for our family. This community assisted my loved one in becoming more social. Shopping, wine testing, carnival, stained glass, and more are some activities for the residents to choose. The food is very good and they have improved since the new chef has arrived. The community is able to provide transportation of the residents to the store and doctor appointments.
