My parents meals were missed when they were told to isolate due to COVID. Medications were not administered at proper times of day. Light bulbs were not changed promptly in apartment which is unsafe.

Sunrise Villa San Jose is an EXCEPTIONAL Assisted Living facility. I had first hand the pleasure to see the vibrancy and unity of all staff members. From the welcoming detailed tour provided by Director of Sales Yaseen, & providing us with an answer to all our questions in regards to Grandma & her future care & move in process, making sure no detail or aspect was missed, he wanted the best care for grandmother. Not your regular sales individual, he cared about grandmother and focused on her as an individual and that made us truly decided on Sunrise. Assisted Living Supervisor Isabel & Wellness Nurse Reggie provided beyond outstanding care, from updating in a very timely manner of any change of condition in grandmothers health, to managing her medications to every small detail regarding her care, they made sure to always be on top and always communicate every detail to myself and my family. Frontline care team members assisted grandmother in every way assisting her with her day to day needs, not only physical but emotionally, from a smile to a hug to a “how are you doing today”, they cared for her in such a way that made grandmothers transition and time at Sunrise very much at home, making grandmother feel like she was important, gave her that sense of independence back. Jastine in memory care was knowledgeable in regards to Memory Care and truly cares for her residents as well. When the time came that grandmother was at a stage of having to transition to memory care, Jastine gave us information and most importantly she walked us step by step how to cope and be there & how to manage that transition when decision was to be made. Needless to say, she was very experienced and made the transitioning more than pleasant. Chef Jose in dining was always outdoing himself with his recipes, Sunday brunches, communicating with each resident in the dining room, inquiring how their food was, and always welcomed any suggestion his way, the first couple days grandmother moved in he stopped by her room, and got to know her, grandmother was Italian & asked if their was anything specific she would like to have prepared to let him know, that made grandmother very happy to know she could have a little slice of Italy here at Sunrise. Program Director Carmen, is very lively, active person whom cares for her residents in a way that was very heartwarming, she always made sure grandmother was active, participating in activities, hosting all types of happy hour events, family game nights, brunches, etc, she takes pride in her job and keeping everyone active and happy. She made journals with grandmothers that made it special to learn about grandmothers life in way that we had never known, making much more special when grandmothers passing having a keep sake of her time at Sunrise 5x more special. She truly happiness and brought the best out in grandmother. Executive Director Jessica, made our time with Sunrise more than amazing. She truly made us feel at ease, weekly communicating to see how we were doing, communicating about any community policies or changes, updating us as well of any change in mother’s condition, she always made herself available and open to any comment/question/concern we always had. Her dedication to Sunrise, and each and every one of the residents there was outstanding. She takes time when she walks down the halls to greet and take a moment to chat with residents, asking them about their day, how they are feeling & wellbeing, even when she say any family member she would do the same, truly shows how invested she is in her community, Overall, grandmothers time at Sunrise was undoubtedly the best decision we made, we knew she was in great hands of individuals who showed us & her nothing but excellent care & love.

This facility used to host my company prior to COVID-19 for administrator classes. As an outside observer I was able to see the care given to the residents and how happy the residents looked when nobody from their family was there. The food always looked and smelled delicious and there was always some type of activity going on. As an experienced provider of senior care I typically see residents hiding in their rooms and only coming out for meals in many communities. That is not the case here. Jessica, the administrator, and her entire team are very involved on a daily basis with the residents. The facility is always clean and the bathrooms smell fresh. The most important thing I see are the residents out in common areas talking with people and they look happy. When I ask them if they''re happy they always tell me yes. A few months ago I had an opportunity unfortunately to refer this community to a family member by marriage for her mothers end of life care. The future resident was ready to move in when she contracted COVID-19 and passed at the hospital. Yaseen was great in following up when needed. Another thing that I notice is the staff has been there a very long time, which in the senior care industry is not the norm. The leadership must be doing something right to retain great employees.
