I spent a number of days visiting a loved one at this assisted living center. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and gentleness they showed in how they cared for my loved one. It''s a beautiful setting where this is located and I can tell they work hard to maintain that. The rooms are spacious and enable them to have things that let them feel like they have enough of their own space and can make it their home. I really only had one complaint and that was they need a rear entrance for visitors, especially in the rain.

Sunrise has been nothing short of miraculous for my mom. Everyone knows her and treats her as part of a community, not as a patient. Through her time here, she has gotten the care she needs to get back to her vibrant self. The physical therapy staff is getting her stronger, the medical staff was able to evaluate what medications she truly needed for optimal health, and the recreation staff has planned so many events that really engage my mom’s interests. Everyone communicates beautifully…I feel like we’re all working together to make Mom’s life the best version possible!

The location of Sunrise at East Cobb would have been good for us. In the entranceway where the reception is, there is a Basset Hound that is chained to the desk, but he barks and howls the entire time. It was very upsetting. I couldn't even hear what they were saying. The apartment was nice. The facility was nice, but the entire time we were there, the dog never stopped howling and we could hear it throughout the building. I can imagine it's got to be very upsetting for the residents. The person who was supposed to give us the tour didn't show up, but the receptionist showed us around. We could hardly hear her because of the barking dog which was very loud. And they did not find the dog to be a problem at all. The dining area was nice, it was right next to the lobby where the barking dog was. So, it was not calm or socially relaxing area to have a meal.

They don't always do what they say they are going to do. One of my pet peeves is that the executive director and other employees park in the parking spaces designated for family members and new people coming to the facility. There was an incident when I asked for a follow up from the executive director and I never received any information back. It could have been that they did something internally and they couldn't discuss it, but I didn't really hear anything back. They do call when medication(s) get low; they really seem to be on top of the medications, so that would be a positive. When you're expecting someone to show up and help with something like a shower or more specifically, my loved one has some health issues that require certain care services, and those needs aren't always addressed in a timely manner. It's kind of a hit or miss on whether or not someone will show up to help with a shower or the other assistance that my loved one needs. Even though I've watched the head nurse type things in the computer saying this or that should happen, it's not always something that happens. I believe that this is related to understaffing. Whether they are actively trying to staff up - I don't know. I don't know if they ae under financial pressure to minimalize staffing. I do know that inflation is costing everyone more and I know they are locked into a rate for a year; so, they may or may not be a struggling with their finances - I really don't know. I generally hear the negative things from my loved one, not so much the positive moments where they do show up to help.
Read moreSunrise of East Cobb was beyond dismal and so dreary looking. We did not have a good tour experience at all and wouldn't recommend the facility based off of what we saw.
They have a la carte pricing and they were more expensive and disorganized that we wanted. The rooms looked out onto a sunroom not a patio.
