I flew up from Texas in advance of Father’s Day and proceeded to go from Logan Airport direct to Sterling Village. Upon reaching his room, I found him slumped in his wheelchair and with blue lips…. I arrived at 3:30 pm and immediately sought help… after more than a half hour, a portable O2 machine was wheeled in and activated. I remained on site until 6:30 pm and the staff advised they would monitor my dad. At 8 pm, my family received a call that they were sending him to Leominster Hospital. Upon intake, his temp was 103.3… the quick click virtual thermometers showed 97.7 when I was on site. He was evaluated and found to have double pneumonia. If you love your relatives, don’t ever send them here…my family is now planning a funeral.

This place is amazing!!! My uncle can mostly take care of himself but the staff are always helpful. He always said he rather die than go to a care facility but I guess Sterling Village is the exception. They helped him get a healthier diet and stabilized his medical care. He said they even had a casino day and the myth of losing all his freedom is just that, a myth. I would recommend Sterling Village for any of your loved ones that want and need the extra support.

My mother is in Sterling Village. I have only two complaints. The first one is the NP Christie is really upsetting my mother. She has put all kind of food restrictions on my 84 year old mother. If she has lived this long eating whatever she wants then why now does one person get to decide for her. If my mother wants to eat whatever she wants so be it. She is 84 and it should be her choice. I feel once your in there all decision making gets taken away. She is completely competent and make her owns decisions. Please leave her be and let her eat what she wants. Secondly every resident there needs to eat. Can they just treat the residents with respect and stop taking all their section making away. Especially when it comes to what they are eating. Talk to them engage in their nutrition. Do just send them what a kitchen worker thinks is what they might want. I am getting tired of hearing my poor mother complain about her food.

I have visited many residents at Sterling Village, over the years, and this facility is , by far, the best environment for a person needing rehab care. It’s a clean, spacious, uplifting environment. And the staff is very sensitive to the unique needs of the individual resident. Right now the impact of covid can be felt in it seeming understaffed, which means longer waits to have your needs met. However I feel that the staff that’s there are doing their best and working harder to deliver compassionate care.
