I visited an old friend in assisted living, found him comfortable, in good spirits, and well cared for. Staff was dealing with some ice storm related damage to the building - cheerfully and competently. As usual my visit was enjoyable.
Poor management. Rule through fear tactics, false representation of services. Recommend anywhere elsr

I am currently a live in caregiver pretty woman living in independent living at Russellville Park. Apparently, being on the independent side does not mean you’re independent, an able to make your own decisions about the things that affect your life most. Choosing your own caregiver would certainly be a decision that should be allowed to be made by the person receiving the care. Since the new management arrived, at Russellville Park things have become increasingly uncomfortable, services have gone down with no transparency or accountability from management, and it’s been nothing but a show for potential residents when they come to tour/have dinner here at Russellville. We always know when corporate is coming because they plant new flowers out front and start cleaning the buildings. It has become a place ran by a used car salesman who’s top priority is to corporate and not to the residents. He actually said this to the residents at a resident meeting. His primary task is to cut cost so for those living here and paying top dollar it means there is never enough waitstaff in the dining room, never enough housekeepers to clean the apartments, and the deli is not consistently open. It means the menu has been cut to the bare minimum, the food quality has gone down with many items coming from a bag they heat in the microwave and prices going up with each menu change. It means there is a total disregard to a residents needs or wants when it comes to choosing their own caregiver because if they use their own then Russellville doesn’t get the extra money out of them. They harass and pressure residents to use caregivers through them and pay an outrageous price for limited, untrained, overworked, ever changing caregivers. Some tactics I’ve seen used are: 1) Repeated phone calls to the resident and family members. 2) Required meetings with resident and family members to pressure them with a sales pitch full of misinformation, threats, and lies. 3) Written and verbal untruths about the residents own caregiver. 4) Threat of eviction if they continue using their own caregiver. 5) Calls to Adult Protective Services with fictional accusations towards the caregiver in hopes something sticks and the caregiver will be removed. 6) Unannounced visits to the resident’s apartment. 7) Entering residents apartment without an invitation to do so-including walking into the resident s bedroom without permission while she was in a state of undress. 8) Threatening other residents with eviction only because of association with someone else’s caregiver. 9) Demanding any associates of the caregiver to tell the caregiver to leave the premises and not come back or they will violate them. 10) Threatening to bring civil lawsuits against the resident and/ or the caregiver if they don’t comply with their demands. 11) Spreading lies within the community including among staff about residents and/or their caregiver. 12) Not allowing a resident to have their own caregiver in their apartment after hip surgery. Informing the resident the night before they are release from rehab they can only use one from Russellville or an agency they choose for them. Disregarding the fact their own caregiver is in place and regardless of the fact that the resident can’t afford the cost of going through Russellville or an agency. I have seen them leave a resident with no caregiver in their apartment after surgery risking the residents safety and leaving them alone. 13) Serving a resident with an eviction notice because she has her own caregiver knowing she has surgery weeks away and needs her caregiver. I have seen a resident covered in bruises from shoulders to elbows from being manhandled by another residents family members and Russellville did nothing to support or protect the resident hurt. They condoned the actions because if they had said what they did was wrong then the perpetrator might have moved his father out of Russellville and they can’t lose that money so they did not report the incident nor take steps to protect the resident hurt.

The unthinkable happened this last Thursday and the fine staff from Carin to Bill helped me with procuring my phone after falling down an elevator shaft. I am taken aback that it was in good condition and I have no issue getting my life back on track. It also seems to be a lovely establishment for those over 55 and I would feel great if my folks were here. Thanks again for saving the day and if you drop your phone here they’ll have it ringing in no time 😎
