Please beware of this facility as it is the worst place I have encountered for care of my father. The staff is completely rude to patients and their families when concerns and needs are asked about. I have witnessed, watched and overheard staff making fun of the patients and straight out laughing about them and their families at the nurses station and in the hallways. They make constant excuses on why care is not being met. They do not keep a daily log of what goes on with patients between the staff and shift changes. The staff does not communicate at all with each other on what needs to be done with patients either and there is zero consistency between them. My father was treated absolutely poorly and the nursing staff tried their hid their horrible mistakes and mistreatment of him behind closed curtains and excesses. Being in the medical field myself, I took notes and addressed my concerns with the staff and no one had any idea why his medical needs were not being met. They were supposed to have been swabbing his mouth and throat three to four times daily with medicated sponges and not once the entire time did they do it. The speech pathologist who would come to check on my father and work with him on his speech would pull out gobs of bacterial tissue from his mouth. If he were to swallow any of that, he would run the risk of getting another bacterial infection and aspirating on it. The speech pathologist herself even brought this up to the staff at the nurses station and all they did was shrug their shoulders saying we don’t know. I also wanted to note that while yes I do realize that my father does tug on his feeding tube, the staff did not keep the feeding tube cleaned properly. I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that it was either infected, red, leaking, or missing the sponge to keep it from irritating his skin and stomach completely. He has cried more than once about how much the tube was either hurting and or bothering him and no one seemed to care when I brought this up. It took me asking more than once for them to even check on it and to help make him more comfortable. They tried to hide their mistakes multiple times and either closed the curtain on me or asked me to leave the room. To which I refused because I want to know what is being done and how it was being handled. In all the times I’ve seen my father, I think I’ve only seen him clothed twice his entire stay there. Every time I asked where his clothes were they ignored me completely. One evening, I had to ask the staff five times where his clothes were that caused me to get so aggravated that I raised my voice and made them answer me. Which they responded with “oh he likes to take his clothes off.” No, he does not and he’s not capable or strong enough to even do that (he has to be completely assisted with every day life). They do not keep him cleaned properly and he has smelled horribly of urine on more than one occasion. His room is never cleaned or kept up, it is often dirty and there is just pure chaos everywhere. You can barely find anything with the piles of trash on his bedside tables no matter how many times my family and I have tried to organize and clean it. I absolutely do not trust this facility or its staff. Edit to add: My father was sent to the hospital with the following: his feeding tube was infected due to not being cared for properly. He also had COVID. He developed an infection in his chest for swallowing the bacterium tissue. He also had sepsis and was in ICU for three days while they brought down his lactate because it was extremely elevated. And the cherry on top, his bottom was red and inflamed and he had an infection because guess what, they were not cleaning him properly. We have since transferred him to another facility where he can get the rehab he needs and come home.

This facility is a joke on “quality care”. The nursing staff are ill mannered men and women who couldn’t care less about their patients. They make crude nicknames for patients and laugh on their behalf. The way they treat family members with concerns is absolutely disgusting. The behavior we have experienced and witnessed include talking back, eye rolling, and making poor excuses for why they didn’t attend to our loved ones needs. The nursing staff between night and day shift have poor communication and do not communicate with each other. Nurses do not leave notes for the other staff members taking on their shifts on what needs to be done with patients. The facility itself is dirty, smells musty and isn’t taken care of by any of the staff. They disregard patients completely, upon a visit we noticed an elderly woman in the dinning area was left unattended and urinated all over herself and no one seemed to care. We notified the nurses and it took them over 30 minutes to take care of the patient and clean the mess. If this was my family member being treated this way, I would be absolutely furious and if I was the director of the nursing staff, I would be completely ashamed of my employees. Overall, this is a terrible facility with horrible staff please do more research to make sure your loved ones get the proper care.
Read moreMy father has only been a resident a short time. Hiwever, I have found the staff to be caring, kind and extremely patient. Like many places, they need more staff but in spite of this, they still give excellent care.
