05/07/2021 Prestige of Milwaukie – Skilled Nursing Facility 5:00 p.m. Local - Arrived at Facility with my Mother -in-Law from Willamette Falls Hospital. I went into the facility and after having to wait for the Woman at the check-in station to finish texting on her phone. I advised her I was there with her and that I needed a Wheelchair to get her in the facility. The attendent called someone and asked for a CNA to bring a wheelchair up. She told me it would be 10-15 minutes. I stood around for 15 minutes waiting and then told her I was going back out to the car to check on Mom she said fine and would send them out. At 5:40 p.m. local I went back into facility and told her we still did not have a wheelchair. She then left her post to go in search of a wheelchair and to wait there for her. In the meantime of waiting for her to reappear my impress of the facility was going downhill. It smelled of urine and could hear numerous patients yelling and screaming. My first impression was ‘OH! My God! One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest!’ Also many people were showing up to go in and see their loved ones and since no one was manning the check-in there was a long line forming. Finally some people just decided to go on back to their loved ones since visiting hours were soon to be over. At 6:05 p.m. local here they came wheeling Mom up in a wheelchair they went to get her from the car without advising me. I ran out to car to get her paperwork from the hospital and my purse. I came back in CNA had her on the scale weighing her, a person in blue scrubs them came in the front door walked by me and saw the papers in my hand without saying anything to me just grabbed the paperwork from me and headed down the hallway through the double doors. Then the CNA told me he would take her back and see ya later. I advised him ‘NO WAY! I will be going with you!’ I was allowed back with NO COVID SCREENING OR ANYTHING!!! We went through the double doors and all I saw was total chaos. Hallway littered with carts and had to stop several times for them to move carts to get wheelchair through. Patients in their room’s half hanging out of their beds, STRONG smell of urine, patients yelling, hollering and wanting help. We got back to nurses station they did not even know what room they were going to put her in. In the meantime Barbara is telling me she does not like this place and is not impressed. I agreed with her. Finally after 5-10 minutes they took us to room 51 bed A. The bed was made but there was NO pillow so the nurse left MOM sitting in wheelchair to go in search of pillow and DID NOT lock the brakes on the chair. OMG!!!! We got her settled in her bed after he came back in about 10 minutes (to find a pillow) OMG! She then asked for the remote to the TV tried using the call button and there was NO way of knowing if call button was working or not. After 10-15 minutes and no one came I went in search of help weaving through the cart littered hallway to nurse’s station. I was rudely told to use the Call Button. I told them we had and no one was coming didn’t think it was working as there was no light or tone to let you know that it was working (Antique Call Buttons). Mom looked at me with tears in her eyes that she did not want to stay there. I was ready to cry as well that I had no choice but to leave her there since it was late evening and a Friday. On Monday I got her out of there!! There is ALOT more I have to say but there isn''t enough room to put it all here. There were so many safety violations it was unbelievable. Just PLEASE if you love your family member DO NOT put them in this facility.
