Pickering Manor was nice, but we decided it was just not for us. I probably like that the better of all the places we visited because it's right in Newtown. We saw a cottage, it was nice. They are older but they keep them updated. I thought it was fairly nice. It has two bedrooms, and two bathrooms and they have its own kitchen. You get ten dinners a month with your fee. I didn't see any of the food, it was in the morning. It seemed well taken care of and it's clean. The cottage is for independent living, but you are offered assisted living if you needed it.

My review is based off my 2019 experiences. Out of all the places my family member stayed for rehab this was the best care facility locally for the short to long term. There was no major concerns during the entire stay. Every other place we went to all had major concerns within 24-48 hours and we promptly left. They even have volunteers! Some of the ladies that volunteered even hung out with me after their time was over. There is always room for improvement but you can only do so much based off your size, budget, and resources available. If I ever need a place this is where I would like to go today.

My husband was in Pickering Manor. He was there for rehab. That seemed very nice. It was very clean. The room he had was very nice-sized. There was a bathroom, and it had a shower with a seat in it. It had a lot of places to put your clothing. It even had a desk there like a charging station for your cell phone and stuff. Every day, they were cleaning every area. It was just very, very clean. They had a common area where you could all sit and watch the ball game or something. My husband liked the food. I didn't eat there. I sat there with him while he ate, but it looked like he liked the food. He said it was good. The staff was good. They were nice. They were good to them. They have people that come and entertain. They have different things going on every day. The staff was very nice and very friendly.

Pickering Manor looked beautiful, but I think I only spent five minutes the whole time there. They didn't even really want to show me around. I was only able to see the rooms because I forced them to show me and I thought the rooms were beautiful. I just found it a little rude that it had to be me saying, "Can I see a room? Can I see something?". That was my main problem. I live in the same neighborhood, so I found it very rude that I am in the same township.
