I have given a lot of thought about writing this but i find i am still deeply disturbed at some of the things i have witnessed and have never received a satisfactory answer. I have given a lot of thought about writing this but i find i am still deeply disturbed at some of the things i have witnessed and have never received a satisfactory answer. The rehab director was always 45 mins or more late to care conferences, unprepared, and could not give solid goals for rehab. Seemed like he always just said whatever you wanted to hear to get you out his face, could not get direct answers about progress or goals without prying. It honestly felt like he was more interested in using as many medicare days as possible. The administrator daniel often spoke down to residents especially those with dementia and called them mama which made me feel uncomfortable to watch, yelled questions in their faces and didn’t give them time to respond. I could not believe the lack of basic respect. There were armed guards, and when asked i was simply told that they were trained to help in a shooter situation and it would make the facility safer. I did not feel safer and don’t understand why armed guards are necessary in a nursing home. It made it seem more like a jail and less like a place to heal. I was shocked and saddened when i was told none of the employees have had specialized dementia training. I do not recommend if you have a loved one who has dementia, as staff does not interact appropriately and treats them like children which seemed very undignified. The staff seemed consumed with the daily drama which left little attention to the residents. It did not seem like any of the staff, even the management, knew what was going on at any time. There was no clear direction from anywhere. It seemed like the therapists themselves, not the director, were the only ones giving updates and following a plan. It seemed like there was an employee quitting every single day, as certain familiar faces just disappeared each day, which meant that the residents would have to start all over again with someone new. I wrote a letter expressing my concerns to corporate and never got an answer back and probably never will, but i had to speak up for future families considering sending a loved one here.
