My husband and I did a walkthrough of Oak Pointe of Rolla and we were very impressed with the whole facility. We even saw a friend of ours that's living there, and she was very comfortable. All in all, it's a lovely place, but we're not ready to enjoy it. The staff during the tour was excellent. The lady just told us all the details and everything. The only thing I didn't understand was they require $3,000, and I'm not sure exactly what that is, and you don't get it back. The rooms were beautiful and you can bring your own furniture pieces if you want. It's very impressive. My friend that lives there has two bedrooms in case some of her family comes to visit. They had a beautiful dining room. They had a beauty salon. Their general room has the books in a bookcase. It's sort of just a meeting room or something. I didn't taste the food, but I've heard that it was good.

There were three EXTREMELY THIN and short pieces of chicken on top of the green salad. I laid them side by side and the three pieces didn't equal a half inch wide! They also have sandwiches a lot in Memory Care. The dining room is large. For what we're paying toilet paper should be provided and so should soap and basic essentials. Even cheap hotels give you those things and so do nursing homes. There is NOT always a nurse on duty but a MedTech and maybe an aide.

They all had individual heating and air, so it's all temp controlled by the residents. We had lunch there and the food was outstanding. They had all kinds of activities going on, both indoors and outdoors. They had one little activity center, even a beauty shop for women. The cooks were very friendly and very nice too.

I used to go and visit Oak Pointe of Rolla. I've gone several different times because we were thinking of putting my mom there. The only thing is that there was different management and they had different rules and people now. I probably could have gotten her in there but they said that the residents had to come while they were still able to move around and that one of the rules they had was that they had to get dressed and then go to the dining area. They couldn't eat in their room unless they were sick and my mom was at a point where she likes to stay in her pajamas and she wouldn't want to get dressed, so for her, we just chose not to go there. They have excellent food though, the staff is wonderful, and they have a lot of facility activities. They have a beauty shop, games, and several areas where families can go and spend time with their loved ones. Their rooms were more up-to-date than the other ones I have seen. We were looking at assisted living because, at the time, my mom was still able to move around and everything. What I liked about it was you could walk around the whole building inside because it was a big O shape. As you walk, you go past some activities and then you come on the backside. About midway was where the dining hall was and as you continued to walk, you would get into the area where the memory care was. Then you come back around towards the front and that's where some of the offices were then you would come back in the main lobby. If she had been mobile, that would have been perfect for her to be able to walk every day. They had a chef and he was an excellent cook. He not only cooks it great, but he has a nice variety of food every day too and I've had several of them. They even hosted Red Hat where women go places and wear red. They're for people in their 50s and older, they invited us to come out so we could look at it, and they cooked for us. I would highly recommend people to go there.

My mother has been living in Oak Pointe of Rolla for almost five months now. It's very nice and she's very happy there. The staff is very helpful and very courteous. Her room is filled with her own belongings and her own furniture, and that's what we wanted. They have lots of different activities. She's also able to have the physical therapy that they requested. The only thing that I know is that when I visited yesterday, she was able to have regular, nutritious meals, and they requested that. I tell them what she likes and what she doesn't like, and we're able to bring snacks of any kind that she likes. She's in the memory care. It's clean. They have a private hairdresser who comes in one day a week. We pay ahead of time and she does what we ask, which we appreciate. We're very pleased. It's safe and secure. My brother and I have been very pleased.
