I have moved into Neighborcare at Chapel Hill. Everybody is very friendly. I like having a balcony so I can stay outside or step out in the air if I want to. There are lots of storage space. I know there are lots of activities. They also have a bus that takes you everywhere. There are lots of different places and restaurants and stuff like that. They got exercise, card games and all kinds of stuff. They don't have food here. Courtney was the leasing agent and Luanne was the activities director in this building. Each building has its own activity director. The maintenance crew is great. I don't like the tiny elevators. Anything that comes in has to go up and down stairs, so if you're moving in on the second or third floor, you have to pay extra to have your furniture moved up those stairs. I'm very happy with the place.

I liked the Neighborcare at Chapel Hill because it's a senior community that has a small library, a barber shop, a beauty shop, and things they can walk to within that building. What I didn't like is they didn't have too many first-floor apartments for accessibility, and the elevators were broken that day, so my mother-in-law would have had to have the first floor, but for people with a disability, that could be a challenge if elevators are broken. So, that was my main concern, was just making sure she had a first floor and we were going to go on the waiting list as far as that. It was a little older place. I liked that they had the library and the barbershop, and they had an occupational person there in the building, which was nice. Then they had activities for the seniors. I saw seniors walking around and they told me that they played cards if they wanted to or sometimes they would deliver food together, or they would have a bingo night or just different things for the seniors that live there. Another thing that I didn't like was there were regular apartments outside of those two buildings that my mother-in-law couldn't get in. I didn't feel like it was safe for her because of the outer apartment. It wasn't a gated community and so I was kind of concerned about safety. For being a senior, that kind of was bothersome and being in Indianapolis, it's kind of not the same. It seemed clean.

I didn't care for the location of Neighborcare at Chapel Hill. You would have to have a vehicle if you wanted to go out and do anything. They offered meals. They were just enclosed inside the building, but they did have a courtyard. They weren't all that close to anything, and I wasn't too impressed with the staff. They just weren't as friendly as the ones in the other places I toured. They were knowledgeable but I didn't feel the good vibe. They had a small gym. The place needed some upkeep, but the facility itself was clean. The bedroom size was average. You could get a bed and a dresser, and they had pretty decent closets. The only restaurants around there would be Burger King and Subway, and there was a Speedway convenience store and a Dollar store nearby.

I saw a very nice room. I was very impressed by it. They had a nice cafeteria area. It was very clean. The tour was wonderful. The building I was in was also wonderful. The outside could have used a little more care.

The outside looks very old, but the inside is terrific. They've updated everything, and it's in a really beautiful shape on the inside. The staff has been very helpful. I've interacted with some of the residents and they are all very nice. They have game nights and they've got buses that will take you to casinos or shopping malls.
