Morningside House of Friendship

7548 Old Telegraph Road, Hanover, MD, 21076

Opened in 1998, Morningside House of Friendship is a senior living community offering an all-inclusive selection of independent and assisted living services. In 2011, the community added the Memory Lane program, dedicated to helping people with Alzheimer’s disease. With twenty-four-hour staff and around-the-clock care, Morningside House of Friendship creates a nurturing environment where residents can live a thriving life with unwavering peace of mind.

After many years of working, caring for a family, and maintaining a home, retirement should be a time of relaxation and enjoyment. Without daily chores to worry about, living a happy retirement is easier than ever for the Morningside House of Friendship’s residents. Staff members provide personal assistance on an individual basis, helping community members with their activities of daily living (like bathing, dressing, or eating). They provide weekly housekeeping, laundry services, and other chore assistance to let residents live a laid-back, worry-free lifestyle.

In addition to their long-term care services, Morningside House of Friendship offers a comprehensive selection of social opportunities and recreational amenities. Living an active lifestyle is a cornerstone of a healthy retirement and the community makes this possible with their ever-changing selection of social activities, learning opportunities, and group outings. Each month, the staff publish a calendar of recreational activities for residents. The activities change daily, giving everyone a chance to find something they will enjoy day-in and day-out.

What types of social opportunities does Morningside House of Friendship offer? There’s no easy answer because they strive to keep their events calendar unique each month. One day, residents may be invited to a pet therapy session in the common room to spend quality time with puppies and kittens, and the next they may enjoy a classic movie screening with their friends. Which recreational activities a person enjoys depends on their personal preference, meaning everyone has complete control over their social schedule.

To help residents plan their social outings ahead of time, the community publishes their monthly events calendar online. The calendar is never the same two months in a row, and commonly features activities like:

  • Board game competitions
  • Arts and crafts sessions (like painting or photography classes)
  • Guest speakers, lectures, and other lifelong learning opportunities
  • Group outings and hikes to nearby sightseeing landmarks, shopping malls, and more
  • Pet therapy
  • Live musical and theatre performances
  • Devotional meetings, like prayer groups and Bible studies
  • Community gardening
  • Happy hours and other party-like events
  • Fitness classes and exercise programs
  • Classic movie screenings
  • Billiards and card game nights

Morningside House of Friendship is a great option for seniors looking for assisted living. The building has had a recent "makeover" with fresh paint and furniture and anytime I visit the residents are having FUN! I always enjoy my time at Morningside.
