THE WORST NURSING HOME MY HUSBAND, WHO IS A VIETNAM VETERAN HAS EVER EXPERIENCED. MY HUSBAND HAS DEMENTIA & PARKINSON’S DISEASE, WHICH INCLUDES THE INABILITY TO FEED OR CARE FOR HIMSELF. IN MAY, 2022, HE WAS PLACED AT THIS SO CALLED NURSING HOME BY THE VA, FOR TWO WEEKS. WHEN HE CAME HOME, HE HAD LOST IN EXCESS OF 10 POUNDS. IN ADDITION, HE WAS UNKEMT & HAD A STRONG SMELL OF URINE. THOUGH I PLACED HIS NAME IN ALL OF HIS CLOTHING, THEY MANAGED TO LOSE SEVERAL SWEATSHIRTS & SWEATPANTS, HIS BEANIE HAT & PAIRS OF SOCKS. THANK GOODNESS I TOOK PICTURES OF THE LOST ITEMS!!! A LETTER TO THE VA WAS SENT REGARDING THIS ENTIRE SITUATION! IT TOOK FROM MAY TO SEPTEMBER TO REPLACE HIS CLOTHING, HOWEVER, MOST OF THE REPLACEMENTS ARE THE WRONG SIZE. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE SINCE I MET WITH THEM & PROVIDED HIS SIZE & PICTURES OF THE MISSING CLOTHING. A VETERAN WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE. NEVER LOST WEIGHT FROM NOT BEING FED, ALTHOUGH IT WAS CLEARLY TOLD TO THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE (BY TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE)!!!

I’m currently a patient at Medilodge of Capital Area due to a broken leg, I was pleasantly surprised by the compassion I have been shown & seen other patients receive many nurses Paula, David, Amy, Audrey, Jen & Robert to name a few have been outstanding with their care they give, These people genuinely care about the comfort of the patients & I’ve never seen any staff short with anyone who maybe a little confused & they always make time for patients when they are needed. I’m so blessed to have been brought here for my care Thank You Medolodge

My mother and step father are currently here. My parent''s medical staff, therapists, admin and caseworker have all had an open line of communication with me regarding my parents, which I sincerely appreciate. They really went above and beyond by making Thursdays my parent''s "date night" where they can enjoy each other''s company and a candlelight (fake candle) dinner together. Very sweet and they both enjoy it. Thank you Medilodge for your care and kindness. Keep up the great work!

It is unfortunate that this facility has employees review the facility to win prizes, as it only harms the public thinking the facility is what the reviews claim. My family was searching for a nursing home for my grandma’s rehabilitation. We had to choose Medilodge of Capital Area because they were the only facility with open bed space. Unfortunately, we found out why they were the only ones with bed space. Nursing homes are held to an expectation of many things - one being simply having compassion for the elderly patients in their care. The families are unable to be with them 24/7, and have a trust in the facility/their staff to simply care for them the way they want their parents or grandparents to be treated if they were placed in that type of care. However - Medilodge staff lacks just that. My grandma was placed at Medilodge of Capital Area due to needing extensive rehabilitation after contracting COVID-19, and being put on a ventilator for months. Her story is much more than just that, but simply put: she fought hard for her life and does not deserve the treatment she is receiving. After being transferred to Medilodge, she realized the lack of compassion and basic healthcare from staff. Facility staff neglected to check her medical history to see the major health issues she has that takes a large role in the diet and special care she needs. Facility staff are rude and unpleasant to residents. Staff are neglectful of DOCTOR orders and lie about them being completed. The responses from staff to resident families are “we are understaffed” (which I completely understand - but the patients shouldn’t have to suffer from that). The list continues, and without going into full detail, I wouldn’t send a pet rabbit to this facility. Do better, Medilodge. Management - invest in better training for your staff. “Understaffing” shouldn’t be the reason why your staff treat your patients the way they do. Staff - if this job isn’t for you, find something that suits you better. Think about your family. Even if you don’t have an elderly family member needing nursing home care, think about if/when they will need that care and how you want them to be treated.

Wife works as CNA here and they lied about her pay (said 22 an hour, but paid $17). They lied about working her full time (told 40+ hours a week, but given 27 hr/ week), probably to avoid paying her benefits. Told her she would receive her first weeks pay one week after starting, never did until the week after. Her 7 hours overtime mysteriously didn’t show on her check along with one full days pay, probably not paying her for the overtime. I’ll be reporting them to the BBB…
