Longwood Plantation had friendly administration and large rooms. The thing I was not happy with was it didn't seem like the residents were engaged in any activities. Their location is important to me, there were other places that I liked better but there were further away. There were other places where the residents were more engaged, but they were further away from me. I just saw four people watching TV there, that was it. They were in the middle of a renovation because they had things out of place, but that doesn't mean that it would always be that way. So that's not a reason to mark them down. The staff who gave the tour was good, helpful and kind. I didn't have a problem with that at all. Because they were updating, so that would make it nice, and the rooms were pretty large so that was good. I've seen other places that had more security though. The doors to most of the residents' rooms were unlocked, so I could see residents wandering into someone else's room. So I didn't feel like that was that secure. But their outside tours, you had to ring to get in.

Longwood Plantation was very clean as some nursing homes typically have a nursing home type of smell, but this wasn't the case. The staff was very friendly and they seem to have some pretty decent COVID protocols in place. We both looked at memory care and assisted living and they were all friendly, knowledgeable, and showed us everything that needed to be seen. Everything was in place and organized. Their rooms were not big but we have been to a few other nursing homes, and their rooms were a little bit bigger than the others and as spacious as you're going to get for a nursing home. They do exercises and I saw people playing checkers when I was there. The living atmosphere looked pretty cool and was better than what I've seen at some of the other nursing homes. The staff was really good, answered all of our questions, nice, and pleasant.
