They canceled two of my shifts two days in a row within three hours of my start time after confirming the night before. Unreal.
The Staff was very attentive to the needs of my Father-in-law. The entire experience was positive and I would certainly consider Avantara again in the future if medical needs require it.

DO NOT bring your loved ones to this facility. There were several issues that just didn''t drive confidence that they knew what they were doing. My wife went there for Physical Therapy after having back surgery. 1) When I took my wife there, no one volunteered to get a wheel chair to help her from the car to her room. When I asked about it, the receptionist said, "There should be a wheel chair across the hall." She did ask me if I wanted help getting my wife in, but, in a place like this, I would think they would have/want a professional to wheel her in. What if she fell out of the wheel chair somehow. Would that be my fault or theirs? 2) The following day, my wife said there was a big argument in the hall with Lilian raising her voice as well as other people. That is something, in my opinion, that a patient should never have to hear. 3) There is a nurse there named Lilian. When she came in to take my wife''s vitals, my wife simply asked her a question. She put her hand up, in my wife''s face and rather loudly, said, "Calm down! Calm down!" The reason she was asking a question was, when we checked in, the nurse told me she would make a copy of the hospital''s discharge instructions and give them back to me. That never happened, so my wife was checking on that. Lilian said she would check on it, and never got back to my wife. 4) There were a lot of times that my wife would ask for things and people would just forget. There doesn''t seem to be any self-accountability with the staff that, if you tell someone you''re going to do something, you do it. This happened numerous times. 5) When we checked in on Tuesday, the whiteboard with all the nurse''s and doctor''s names was filled out. On Wednesday, there was a note that there was a meeting with the social worker on Thursday @ 1:30. That same information was on the board until Saturday, when they finally updated the nurse names. I had written on the board, "Update me!" on Friday night. The note about the meeting was left on there throughout her stay and was there when we left on Monday. Again, whose job is it to update that information? 5) We spoke to the PT lead and a social worker on Saturday and told them we wanted to take her home because they were doing very little for her. They said we had to have PT on Fri and Sat and would be able to go home on Sunday. Then, a different person on Saturday said we would have to wait until Monday. 6) My wife was given a form to fill out to pick her options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of the meals were not what she filled out. When she asked about it, the answer was we ran out of that and had to substitute. But they never told her that there were doing that, even while bringing her food, plus much of the food was cold and very bland. They never brought salt or pepper to help with that. The complete lack of attention to detail, as well as a lack of communication was extremely frustrating and exhausting. I would never recommend this place to anyone. What a terrible experience. They need to get their act together.

Hi Gina, as you may know, my mom, Marion Morrissey passed away at Avantara last Saturday. I wanted to take a moment to tell you how grateful my family and I are to the wonderful staff at Avantara who took care of our mom. Gladys was the nurse who both admitted her on March 26 and was taking care of her when she passed away on Saturday. She was wonderful, very kind and caring and very gentle with my mom. It meant the world to me. The other nurses, Kristina, Jenny and Steven who I either spoke to on the phone and in person were kind and helpful as well. The CNA''s were great too, especially bringing us snacks! My family wants to express our heartfelt thank you for their care. Lastly thank you for helping me navigate the unknown as you and I worked toward getting my mom admitted and comfortable at Avantara. I really appreciate all of you. Nikki, I know we only engaged with you for a short period of time, but I want to thank you for being so kind and helpful as we navigated my mom''s care. You were a blessing, especially telling me about the Irrevocable Trust. I''m so glad I was able to set that up. Karen Gollnick
