I came here from the hospital for a respite stay, received my physical therapy here, and i have been treated like family by the staff. I have made many friends, i enjoy the activities and meals, and after visiting other facilities where i received a hard sell, i think i am going to see about staying here.
There are 6 hospitals within 25 miles of Sojourner Place. The two closest hospitals are Bronson Methodist Hospital which is 3.7 miles away and Borgess Medical Center which is 5.0 miles away.

Big question why are only staff rating highly of nursing home? Sounds like they''re getting pay for doing it. Remember palliative care means terminal sedation. They will slowly kill your parent (without consent ) really uninformed consent)(for easy medicaid approval) keeping them from food and fluids .They will die from no food , fluids, morphine, and lorazepam every hour. They will die alone and in a frantic state knowing they are being murdered. Technically they are. You will regret trusting this home. If you love your parent do not bring them here. I tried trusting them and i will regret this for eternity.They should be shut down. Unethical and sick ,and greedy corporation. I hope my review keeps others loved ones safe and alive. You only have one precious life and now my beautiful loving mom went through murder and fought to survive in the last moments where they forcefully held her down and injected morphine and made her take her last breath. She had a bad childhood. Came here for better life killed by America.Her medical records state even more run!!! As god as my witness i am telling the truth. Don’t bring them here if u want your parents alive. only staff compliments .this is concentration camp for the dementia . hospice without family informed consent they are being deceptive for medicaid profit. they can kill loved ones just so they could receive get medicaid reimbursement. You will not know what they are doing and never get to say goodbye to only get a phone call she died was in pain and when you ask what happened they say they do not know and happened so fast but used terminal sedation even though she was not dying medical records state perfect vitals, . Run!!! As god as my witness this is true!! Protect them if u love them!! Run if you are unsure my truth, look at my past reviews it will show im kind to everyone . I give this to god. Horrible they should be ashamed!!! They know what they did. Sick every moment is precious, none can say they we''re suffering but the patient she stated numerous times in medical records she did not want to doe they did not care. Ruthless Criminals.her last moments were in fear being murdered. Sick!!!I hope they dont give same care to their lived ones. In the medical wefield never take personal how a patient acts because it is not really them and my mom was a loving kind giving mom who lived a hard life. Came to America for a better life And KILLED by America in abuse!! I am ashamed that America did not protect her right and took it into their own hands to take her life( she was in extreme fear ( I have medical records to prove it run!!! If anyone has had this happen to their loved ones please contact me you are not alone I''m sure some people there are good but the way they used Medicaid for profit is sick i hope i would not even wish the terror my mom went through on my worst enemy. She was a sweet kind giving lady with a brain injury. They were not god and had no right to take her life with morphine her last thought was fear and fighting before she took her last breath per charge rn Rhonda. I suspected they were neglecting her and was planning my flight but was too late. Her phone was in closet and she was bedbound from car accident 20 plus years prior. She had no to call for help if it known what they were doing i would have saved her and brought her home. I live with the guilt of trusting them for the rest of my life. They need to admit they killed her for convenience and profit and do what''s right. God knows and i know what they did. My mom needs justice someone needs to show responsibility and do what''s right and tell the truth. Unexceptionable do not bring your love ones there if i save just one life my mom gets some kind of justice so please listen before it''s too late like me. Remember this hospital is for profit!!!

We cannot say enough about the Lakehouse staff that became like family to my dad and I. They showed true compassion and provided unwavering support right up through my dad''s passing. Since the change in ownership and management of the facility we continued to see great changes taking place. They provide in-facility events, themed events, and activities as well as outings for residents that are able to do so. They worked in partnership with my dad''s hospice team which provided us with such peace of mind. If I were to be asked by the new owners what they might continue to work towards, I would mention the weekend staffing. Having a weekend team that has enough people to provide the same opportunities and response time that occurs during the week days would be fabulous. I don''t mean to imply that the Mon-Fri staff should do that, they need time to be with their own family and friends. Perhaps an extra fully staffed team that could continue the quality work that their colleagues do during the week. Finding quality, consistent and compassionate assisted living care is incredibly difficult. However, without hesitation, I would choose Lakehouse of Kalamazoo again.

This assisted living facility was a nightmare. My Mother only resided there for 4 months before we moved her to a better place. This facility is chronically understaffed on weekends. For at least 3 weekends that I know of there were only 2 staff for 30 residents. I was called one weekend by staff who informed me that my mother had fallen but that they could not get her up for at least 20 minutes because the staff member was alone. By the time I arrived she was up because the second staff person, who was working but out to lunch, kindly returned from lunch at the request of the staff to help pick up my Mother. The very next weekend I was called by my Mother who was in tears. She had fallen and was pushing her alarm for twenty minutes and no one had come. By the time I arrived there twenty more minutes later they were still unaware that my Mother had fallen. She had broken her nose and was bleeding that entire time. Lakehouse has excellent staff that want to do a good job but the chronic understaffing prevent them from being able to do the job that they want to do. This place is dirty. The dust is overwhelming and I have had to request that my Mother''s toilet be cleaned. I would not recommend that facility to anyone.

Great fun activities and interaction with residents.
I really like the LakeHoise of Kalamazoo for my dad and so does he. His room over looks a field with wildlife, he has is own bird feeders and the food is good. The staff is wonderful and they treat everyone with respect.
