The staff here is poor i had to quit because they DO NOT VALUE YOUR LOVE ONES THAT ARE IN THE FACILITY. THE DIRECTOR SHOULD BE FIRED FOR HOW POORLY AND DISGUSTING SHE TREATS STAFF AND RESIDENTS THAT STAY HERE. PLEASE IF YOU LOVE YOUR LOVE ONES YOU WOULD RECONSIDER ANOTHER HOME OTHER THAN KAROLWOOD.

She was not given pain medications when she asked for them & she was suffering greatly from having multiple strokes & a injured leg. They let her lay their for hours until my family threw a fit for them to give her meds because she was crying. She passed about 15 minutes after she finally got her meds. She was in so much pain she could not pass peacefully because of these people that don''t pay attention to their patients. Another complaint is this company owes my father a refund for 28 days & he has been given the run around on a refund since February about this. I''ve been calling on the phone & yesterday they told me they would have a answer for me today. Today I am told the manager is out until May 1st & I have to call back then. I''m sick of being given the run around by you people. Give William Westfall back his money!! You did a stop payment on one check & told him you would issue another & still HAVE NOT done so.

I was not impressed with Karolwood Gardens Portsmouth. They didn't even know we were coming. They were not organized and they didn't have stuff together. The lady that showed us around was nice, but she couldn't answer any questions because the proper person wasn't there. I was just not impressed with them. The facility looked pretty good. The apartments seemed to be OK. I kind of like the fact that they had it set up where you had a bedroom separate from the living area, but that was the only thing that interested us. It was on two floors and I was not impressed with that because my sister-in-law doesn't see well and I think that it would have been hard for her to get around in that place.

My mother is going to move to Karolwood Gardens Portsmouth. Upon touring it, the staff was very welcoming. Even though it's an older facility, you can tell it's been well-maintained. I like the fact that they had a handicapped-accessible bathroom inside of the room, and that was important for us, and the affordability, too. It is in a good location for the family to make it easy to visit her and so we were pleasantly surprised. Most of the rooms have kitchenettes. They have a refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. They had a courtyard and a nice enclosed porch on the front. The person that took me on the tour was the director. Scarlet was very warm and very knowledgeable about senior care. I found her to be very informative, very knowledgeable, and very personable.

My brother-in-law has moved into Karolwood Gardens Portsmouth. The staff seems pleasant, helpful, attentive, and caring. The facility is clean, and it is a nice and pleasant environment. He has a nice and very clean room. All his furniture is new and nicely appointed. So far, he has been satisfied with the food. The dining area is very nicely appointed, too. They have several activities like dancing, bingo, puzzles, and day trips.
