Our experience at Juniper Village at Louisville made me very aware that there is a definite need for COMMUNICATION and Education at this facility! Both of these needs I shared with the management more than once; unfortunately my sister died before I can say if it was heard and, therefore, improved. Switching to a different hospice company was a big improvement for my sister and our family, also. I believe I would probably recommend this facility--with perhaps a "heads up". I might also add that I am inclined to feel like these issues (and others) are industry wide!

The staff always seems to be soft spoken and calm, creating a calming affect and atmosphere. They understand dementia and how to approach people with dementia. Good at knowing how to avoid upsetting the residents and at how to guide/slide the resident into doing important things. No or few activities, no " enrichment program" except for church services. This may be better lately- finally hired a new activities person. The residents do eat the food and it tastes ok but it's far from healthy. Meat is in the form of patties (who knows what's in them). Vegetables overcooked, or maybe canned. Regularly the vegetable/fruit served is the old fashioned canned fruit cocktail. During my visits, I've never seen a fresh fruit or vegetable. Nor salad. The resident's rooms can be a bit of a mess, though of course, the residents may be the main cause of this. A 1-2 minute visit by staff per day could address this (ex garbage on floor). Did a great job getting her ready for me to take her to an early eye doctor appt. Sometimes the staff doesn't answer my emails. Overall, I feel my family member is safe, warm, being fed. Has made friends! I will have her stay there. But for price, there are things that could and should be improved.

Amazing staff that cares tremendously about there customers. Residents seem truly happy.

Great place for Memory Care. They truly understand Alzheimer’s suffers and what to expect along with how to support their residents. The facility feels like a home. The staff generally wants to be there and they are always doing their best to provide meaning to their residents. Unfortunately that is not the case with other more prominent all-in-one Independent Living/Assisted Living/Memory Care facilities; those facilities quickly look for ways to terminate the contract once your loved one moves into Memory Care. Trust me, we learned the hard way. We wished we had taken 5 minutes to do internet searches on the other facilities as the ‘scam’ and ‘complaints’ are abundant and going on for years. Again, Juniper is truly a Memory Care facility and their residents are given the best care and support possible. Highly recommend...
