We have signed the lease at Holiday Highland Trail. All they have there is independent living. It's very clean. The salesperson was very friendly and flexible with my crazy schedule for coming in and touring. It felt like a really nice transition. They offer more than just like a senior apartment, but it doesn't feel like a nursing home either. It's kind of a nice in-between, which is perfect for what kind of level my father is at. I felt like the price was very reasonable for that as well. Twice a month they have kind of an event there, and the staff was telling me that they were getting ready for their Hawaiian luau. On one of my tours there were some individuals that were in the game room playing cards and Scrabble and that kind of thing. They recently got some money for a big renovation, so all of the common areas are being renovated, and then each of the individual apartments are being renovated kind of as people move through them. Everything was very clean, new, and modern.

I went to see Holiday Highland Trail. The staff was excellent. They didn't provide meals at this place. They didn't have a place for me to move into when I needed more intensive care. They had studio rooms and apartments available.

Holiday Highland Trail had very small rooms. We were looking at a one-bedroom unit and it was significantly smaller than the other facility. They were also very rigid with their dining hours. They only had one hour for breakfast, one hour for dinner, and one hour for lunch. So, that was kind of depressing. The people and the staff were great. I liked them. It just seemed a lot older and a little depressing.

The unit we saw at Holiday Highland Trail wasn't as big as the other facility we visited. It was a one-bedroom apartment with a living room and a refrigerator. It had a bathroom and a closet, but there was no stove and not as much storage. The lady that got to tour me was nice and very friendly. She offered a lot of suggestions as to acclimating my mother to that facility and some tips on getting her acclimated to any facility, not just theirs. She was great. We had a nice experience touring it.
